Looking forward to watching Arsenal v Man City this afternoon. No doubt the football will be more skilful than in the match I travelled a 50-mile round journey to see yesterday (AFC Wimbledon v Shrewsbury Town) - but will hardly match it for excitement. Both teams had delved heavily into the transfer market and the only real stalwart in our side is midfield dynamo Sammy Moore. The game consisted for long stages of head-tennis, and trying to force set pieces. I was impressed by our two ex-Crawley guys, Matt Tubbs and Dannie Bulman, and our 16-stoner built-like-a-brick-outhouse Adebayo Akinfenwa who won every aerial battle that came his way. Shrewsbury (who I hate, my first wife came from there !) were seemingly given carte blanche by the ref to be as dirty and cynical as they chose, and their favourite trick was to go in hard on the challenge with no attempt to get the ball, and then, having poleaxed our player, roll around themselves as if it were they who were the injured party, thus gaining the free kick. They had one very skilful little red-headed guy, Ryan Woods, fast accurate and with a powerful shot, who was used totally out of position as a holding midfielder. Reckon he'd be better used on the wing. And one of our supporters appeared to be carrying out a one-man vendetta against their central defender, calling out continuously "Number Six, you're a waste of space!" or "Number Six, you're having a nightmare!" or on a couple of occasions when he mis-kicked and the ball went out of play "Eyeore ! Eyeore !" Very funny..... Never a dull moment with the Dons, usual mixture of agony - ecstasy - ecstasy - agony. So of course it finished 2-2.

Everton v Arsenal, Trafford v BigPhilMac, whatever way you want to look at it, probably one of the big early season games!

Just arrived back from sunny kingston-upon-thames and sulking at present....let a halftime lead slip and lost to the monkey-hangers. Even missed a second-half penalty.

Bad start by United, 2pts only from 3 games......a dire draw against Burnley follows the 0-4 Capital Cup humiliation earlier this week at the hands of M/K Dons Franchise FC.

I have worked out Van Goolies plan. It is to only play a maximum of 40 matches this season. Then his players will be fit enough for their summer holiday next summer!

A dream draw for AFC Wimbledon in their first FA Cup 3rd round appearance in the new guise...........Liverpool ! Our ground capacity is only 5000 so I would imagine we would offer a reversal of the fixture for a share in the gate which would be an enormous boost to our new stadium fund.

I don't think that's allowed anymore, Tommo, I believe the rules were changed a few years ago. As far as I know, the game can be switched to another nearby ground only if the stadium is deemed not capable of staging the fixture, but not to the opponent's ground. So possibly Selhurst Park, for instance, could be used, as Palace were drawn away, but not Anfield.

Thanks Mark, I was wondering, as what was formerly an option has received no discussion on the Dons' website. Twickers might be viable, but I don't think Selhurst Park would be, our departure from there was an acrimonious one, 4000 of us turned up for our last game there and boycotted the match, doing a 'conger' round the ground for the entire 90 minutes. An official gate for the day of 800 was claimed, but 80 was nearer the truth - it was like a morgue inside. So it looks like a sellout of 5000 at Kingsmeadow, and with the away team allocation being higher than usual, no chance of me getting a ticket ! Should be a good payola though from TV rights alone. One occasion when a draw and replay would be the gilt-edged result.

One occasion when a draw and replay would be the gilt-edged result. Dons 1, Gerrard 2. Close but no cigar ! Split loyalties in our household - at least Margo is happy........ Nevermind, we acquitted ourselves well and I've enjoyed all the nostalgia about 1988.

Wonderful finish to the FA Cup replay West Ham v Everton tonight.......1-1 after 90 mins, 2-2 after extra time and then 20 penalties, getting round to the goalkeepers facing each other: Everton goalie hit the crossbar and Hammers goalie put his one away to become the hero, then promptly donated his jersey to a delighted fan with his little son on his shoulders !

Must be the craziest set of FA Cup results ever today.......... Bye Bye Chelsea; Bye Bye Man City; Bye Bye Tottenham; Bye Bye Southampton; Bye Bye Swansea; Close call today for Liverpool and yesterday for Man Utd (good for Cambridge who will benefit enormously from earning a replay).

It may yet be Arsenal's to win again this year with the way today has gone %
