What next people?
AEBBA could not even agree on the outline position for a Publicity Officer within the association at the last AGM but we did discuss the lock on the ladies' toilet door .
What hope is there?

As far as I remember, this was thought to be a good idea, but no one in the end put their name forward in a proposal!

As far as I remember, this was thought to be a good idea, but no one in the end put their name forward in a proposal! I did explain to the meeting that this was an outline proposal, not naming any names at that stage, merely to endorse the ideal put forward at the previous AGM. The meeting seemed intent on having a detailed submission as to what the new publicity officer would be doing for his budget which was not possible at that meeting. The proposal was lost.

Nothing has appeared in respect of ideas to move forward.
I personally am convinced that leagues must own their own table stock and pool table resources. That is the only current way we have of generating income and buying traditional tables to be in a position to supply tables to new venues. There is then also no need to charge entry fees for anything!
In the case of my own league table consortium, all sponsors that wished to have been paid back and we are now cash fat but have no ideas of what to spend it on (apart from the truck donation we made)!!

I think we're like the proverbial swan, looking serene on the surface, but peddling like feck underneath just to stay in the same position. . The formation of various consortia are keeping leagues in Kent, Surrey, Oxon and Northants alive, so that is a path that others will have to follow in order to survive. Is it about money ? Sponsorship in this day and age does not come easy, and tends to come from within. The truck being an example, a successful venture yes, but funded by dedicated players. Maybe if the game "caught on" and captured the imagination of the public, a big name sponsor would come forward.

To summarise, not may ideas for the future apart from removing professionalism by rule changes, publicity and road shows etc, community ownership of table stock.
The latter needs money we do not have and organisational skills that don't come free.
