Following this (no, don't thank me !): ........I am currently working on compiling an earlier history of the game at National level, from 1972 (i.e. for the 20 years preceding Fazza's BBQs.) This will shortly be available, after I have incorporated a few images (such as Milko's photos of the International teams which he has kindly given me permission for.) When complete, hopefully it will become integrated into the new front page of the AEBBA website, or perhaps into The Chubbster's "Jimdo" site by way of a preliminary stage......

Okay, here it is, then, a definitive history of bar billiards at National level for the 20 years prior to what is documented in Fazza's BBQs. docs.google.com/document/d/12AUre70nyZRXURC4puhMUp-M5SKm6Zb4eMXxTsCPhnE/pubSome feedback will be appreciated, and feel free to challenge any of the fine detail or to point out any omissions. As it stands there is a bias towards Sussex, as much of the detail comes from press clippings from the 1980s. So if for instance Kent or Oxfordshire have a content they would like me to include (old photos ?) then I can quite easily incorporate it. Enjoy ! tommo

Excellent reading Clive and yes as Tony says Keith and Pete will both have newspaper cuttings etc plus I will most probably have the same. My spare time is very limited spending precious time with my sister so I will watch this space to see how much Keith and Pete manage to find and perhaps at a later stage I can see if there are some gaps I can fill. Well done on a good job. xx

Thanks you three for the encouragement. To Milko, I'd say that anything involving you or your teams at a National level would be appropriate. Re: the Record Breakers, anything like that I've added a line for in red and you will see that this reference already appears: ........but it would be good to append a recollection from you of the day. What a shame that Bucks and Berks are so reticent, especially as they helped to make much of the early history.

I was amazed at the world records! 1,754,730 In 24 hrs! I May have worked this out wrong but is that not just under 22k per match (18 mins) to play that consistently over a period as long as 24 hours is unthinkable!

So as regards addition to the AEBBA website by way of an Index - or as I suggest, a TIMELINE - you're now good to go when the time comes. Now, who can we get to do the same for Nigel's follow-on quarterlies, 2007 to the present day ? It's down to "Billy Muggins" as usual ! Anyway, here's part 3 of 3 of Tommo's Timeline, which brings us more or less up-to-date - with just the AEBBA competitions (and Jersey of course) to add. docs.google.com/document/d/1aufdTzNPNh2XQK4ddWBDw8SlD3g2Ind6vKS7oZHGo7s/pubLinks are given to all 30 of Nigel's AEBBA Newsletters. So to quickly find an event, look it up on the Timeline and then click on the link to the relevant Newsletter. Simples !

Ditto on the website front-end, no help forthcoming. I'll see what I can do this winter with help from others to write articles.

Under "General Bar Billiards Discussion" you will find a thread called "Anyone want this website ?"This was a project started by Glenn - then aborted - and offered free to anyone willing to take it over. There are some excellent graphics and templates but a plea for help in "filling in the gaps". I was given to understand that this could be used for help in the construction of the new AEBBA website front-end, and for my part of the deal I have provided, in the form of the Timeline(s), the mechanism by which "filling in the gaps" can be easily achieved. tommo

Some photos from 2007 have been added (and from 2003 and 2005 to Timeline Pt II) with kind permission from Sav. Document prints out rather neatly on 15 pages (even if I say so myself !)Anyone got any photos from 2008 that they want included ? (Bearing in mind that Nigel's Newsletters commenced in 2009).

Well done Clive, a lot of work has gone in there to put all that together. Here is a picture of the Crown & Thistle team that won the Team Championships in 1981. From L/R Dave Plumstead, Pete Slater, myself, Clive Wallin & Pete Higham (captain). The trophies were superb and very heavy, one of the best that I've ever received. I have mislaid my book atm but I should imagine that the 1985 winning side is similar but will check once it's found. Attachments:

Thanks Keith, Already incorporated - it's that easy to do (in real time rather than having to dial up the website provider !) I don't suppose you have any details as to who were your runners-up ?? tommo edit - whoops - think i've put it in for 85 rather than 81.........let's see how long it takes me to put right !I was just about to tell you that!Sorted - took 9 minutes, including making picture as large as I could get it without losing resolution !

Have added Keith's offerings and numbered every competition and Timeline is now as good as I can get it.
Could still do with some photos from 2008 though if anyone has any.
Out of all the checking and cross-checking with press clippings, I have amazingly found only four discrepancies in the AEBBA Roll of Honour and will list these tomorrow - along with any gaps that can now be filled in.
