I raised this concern with Tom at lunch time today. We both agreed that we will not let anyone down, considering that travel and accommodation would of been booked and paid for.
We are now looking what options we have to fit everyone in.
Would 9 tables help
Could we start earlier
Go without the brake at tea time
Play some rounds on the saturday
These are all things we are looking at

Would 9 tables help Could we start earlier Go without the brake at tea time Play some rounds on the saturday These are all things we are looking at Hi Darren, Fantastic news that you will have a record number of entries for the Guernsey Open this year.... .... although I would imagine that this gives the organisers the (nice) problem of how everbody can now be fitted in to the schedules. Given the size of the room, I don't think that you could get 9 tables in there and it would be a shame to have a table elsewhere in the hotel as that would change the "atmosphere" of the competition for the players on that table. I am not sure that an earlier start would be welcomed by any of the players and personally I think that you should avoid playing any rounds on the Saturday as that could have an impact on either the Pairs competition or the international match on the Saturday evening. As someone who has been involved with running larger competitions here on the mainland, could I suggest that the simplest solution for you would probably be to make the Plate Competition single legs as far as the Quarter-Finals and double legs after that. That would immediately give you an extra hour in the schedule to fit in prelimanary (1st) round matches for the main competition and also a prelimanary (1st) round match in the Plate. Virtually all of the County Opens here in England only have single leg games in the early rounds of the Plate (as does Jersey) so nobody is likely to complain about that. Here is a very simple example of timings that would be needed for an entry of 72 players with single legs in the Plate.... 10.00 Main Preliminary Round (8 double games) 10.45 Main Round 1, Series 1 (8 double games) 11.30 Main Round 1, Series 2 (8 double games) 12.15 Main Round 1, Series 3 (8 double games) 13.00 Main Round 1, Series 4 (8 double games) 13.45 Main Round 2, Series 1 (8 double games) 14.30 Main Round 2, Series 2 (8 double games) 15.15 Plate Preliminary Round (4 single games) 15.40 Plate Round 1, Series 1 (8 single games) 16.05 Plate Round 1, Series 2 (8 single games) 16.30 Main Round 3 (Last 16) 8 Double Games 17.15 Plate Round 3 (Last 16) 8 Single Games 17.40 Dinner Break (this is only 10 minutes later than it was last year) 19.00 Main & Plate Quarter-Finals (8 double games) 19.45 Main & Plate Semi-Finals (4 double games) 20.30 Plate Final (1 double game) 21.15 Main Final (1 double game) This keeps everything from the dinner break onwards at the same time as last year, the only sacrifice is making the Plate single legs before the quarter-finals but that is normal in most opens anyway. If you needed to it would be possible to accept another 8 entries on top of that, it would simply mean that another Preliminary Round would be needed which would either mean mean that the Dinner Break would not start until 18.15 or you may need to not have a break at all, alternatively you could play the Main and Plate Finals at the same time.... so it would be possible to have 80 entries without actually making the scheduling too difficult. If Luke needed help with the schedules I can certainly send him some things that have been used in the past in Opens here in England and would happily sort out the table times out for him? Hope this helps? Best wishes, Dave

Best wishes, Dave Dave's answer is a great solution AND I TOTALLY SUPPORT THIS - but to those that have booked first and entered really late need to totally thank Dave Ingram here if Guernsey agree to this. Their entry form said 64 entries Guernsey are being generous if they kindly go beyond X I think that some players need to realise that if they are late re entry they risk the chance of not playing due to maximum numbers allocated, despite the closing date.

Thanks for the help and Support
Chrissie you are completely right that we have stated a maximum of 64 of the entry forms. We may of made a mistake by not declaring a 1st come 1st Serve basis and by only putting the closing date as the 19th April we have left ourselves open a little.
Hopefully the powers that be will allow the extra entries. It shows how this event is growing.

Hi Darren,
I sent off my cash payment to Luke Oliver back on the 01/04/2015. Has it still not been received yet??
Also, I entered myself and Sami Baden for the doubles but you haven't got our names down in your most recent update.
Regards,
James Jeanne

The draw was done last night and is now on the Guernsey website..... Guernsey Open Singles Draw - as shown on Guernsey website It's difficult to spot the menu tab at the top of the page, unless you know it's there. Attention is drawn to the GBBA button.
Also the start times appear incorrect Series one 9.53 am Series two 9.54 am Series three 9.55 am etc
Quickest open ever!
[edit] ahhhhh they're bye rounds, trying to confuse an old man!

I guess that the other way that you could look at that would be that two of them will be guaranteed a place in the THIRD round.... but it depends on whether your glass is half full or half empty when you look at things like that.

Ok the draw is done and I expect the tipster will soon be at work, looking for that dark horse that will give them loads of points.
This year we have done some work on the tables and hope that you will see and overall improvement in these. Obviously there is bound to be one that is awful but fingers crossed.
We also have 2 tables that will remain in in their bars.
One is a new venue the Happy Landngs. Its a proper locals bar and they do food. This is next door to the airport (walking distance) the bar opens from 11-midnight throughout the week and until 12.45 Friday and Saturday.
The Table is in the foyer and you are welcome to go and play earlier if you wish.
The Other table is at the Guernsey Indoor Bowling. Near the Hougue du Pommier Hotel for those that have stayed there in the past. As this is a club there is no food ( hougue Du Pommier is goodthough) and the bar opens a little later. 8pm on the Wednesday and 8.30pm Thursday and Friday. They have a snooker table and a pool table so plenty to do.
At the moment there is no intention to put a practice table in at the venue, it hasn't proved to be used much and the siting of the table has proved difficult at the Roquettes.

On the social side, I have been informed by punk music buff Andrew Rundle that there will be a top uk tribute band 'Blondied' playing at The Dog House pub just down the road in the direction away from Town from the Rocquettes on the Friday and Saturday night. Admission is free and he tells me 'One way or the other' he will be going there.

You could open the Rangers club and charge £10 for two pints and a bacon sarnie - you would fill the place probably....... Nice start for an early breakfast

They also are booked for Cobo Bay Hotel Balcony on the Sunday afternoon. These Gigs are brilliant if the weather is fine, as they close the coast road and the audience replaces the cars. As most of us will be playing/watching the singles then, we will miss that one. Watch for the diversions though if you are driving on the West Coast Sunday afternoon Especially if 'The Tide is High'
