On the AEBBA website, Nigel has put an open request for 'anyone that can help with history prior to 1991' so here goes... Timeline is now as good as I can get it. Out of all the checking and cross-checking with press clippings, I have amazingly found only four discrepancies in the AEBBA Roll of Honour and will list these tomorrow - along with any gaps that can now be filled in. Discrepancies: 1) The Under22 team competition, 1986......Winners were Sussex, runners-up Kent not Northants (Fazza guesswork ?) 2) 1st Special Ladies Open, 2000.......Runner-up was Surrey's Josie Hogan, not Auntie Pauline as shown !(sorry, Auntie !) 3) National Team Championship, 1977.....Winners and runners-up are wrong way round: North Star (Sussex) won and Sportsmans Rest (Hants) were runners-up. 4) Ladies County Championships, 1981.....Berkshire were winners, not Kent. Backup information in the form of press clippings etc can be found on Timeline (Part One) to support these claims.
Gaps to fill: 1) National Team Championship Runners-up: 1973 Lord Napier (Oxon) 1976 White Harte, Cuckfield (Sussex) 1980 British Queen, Portsmouth (Hants) 1982 White Hart, Cranleigh (Surrey) 1984 team from Hants or Bucks were 2nd and 3rd but not sure which way round ! 2) Mens County: 1972 winners: Sussex 1973 winners: Sussex 1974 winners: Sussex ('75 and '76 made it "five in a row" as quoted in a clipping) 1974 runners-up: Berkshire 1981 runners-up: Berkshire 1984 runners-up: Sussex 3) Ladies County: 1978 runners-up: Surrey 1980 runners-up: Kent 1981 runners-up: Sussex 1982 runners-up: Sussex That's the full extent of it ! Cheers, tommo
