WTF ? Ah - suddenly I see...... Two go through to the main, and Gandalf has highlighted the one in each group which he predicts are destined for the Plate.

it's very bright now,
BTW I should of said the rules of play etc. have not changed from last year. i.e must always use the red ball when available last ball down any hole off any cushion/s Bualk line is where the green ends blah blah blah
But I would like to introduce a new rule in line with Suffolk. All male players should drink at least pint of beer per game Ladies should drink one small glass of wine per game The only trouble with that is some of us would have to slow down our drinking

Local players are doing well so far...Chris Cass and Jeremy fry win their groups. L-C-W has just taken a game off Nigel and top scores of the day have come from Geoff bridges. Could there be a Sudbury winner ?

Congratulations to Mal on winning his first open title. Was a very close final. Mal was about 800 up after the first leg. I slowly got myself back into it, but crucially Mal was at the table when the bar went and finished it off but had to sink the last ball as he was around 180 ahead.
Great day : )

Congrats to Mal and big well done to Curt for his set of 3 East Anglian finals out of three. There was an encouraging battle of the youngsters in the Plate Final, which saw Stephen Coleman up against Sudbury's finest Luke Cole-Watts. And Oxon players did well this year with three appearing in the quarter finals of the main competition.
One slight tweak to how the tables were set up was not popular with all, but the day is after all what you make of it. Driving 200 miles in one day and playing 7 frames of 4-Pin is a good test for the concentration, but in between rounds I managed to fit in visits to the Mill (north of town) and the Quay (south of town) - both beautiful and tranquil settings.
Very many thanks to the organisers for making it such a wonderful event, recovering the situation well after a widespread power cut delayed the start by one and a quarter hours. Thoroughly enjoyable once more and looking forward to next year's event in whatever guise.

Just a guess as I wasn't there. Maybe the 50/50 break was not possible this year?

yes someones laid a massive egg and decided it would be a good idea to ensure the 50/50 break was virtually impossible by moving the peg positions over the 50s to be "touching" the holes!
