By this time next week we will know the winner of the Sussex Open. I hope that all the matches will be played with a competitive, but fair spirit and that the best man or women wins. If the best man or women does not win, I hope that they do not blame the table, their cue, the organisers or the wrong side of the bed they got out of that morning. Winning is fine and rewarding. But those who lose must lose gracefully and with a smile on their faces

An enjoyable day (from the point of view of one who only spectates). Many thanks to the tireless organisers, Jean and Alan and any who may have helped in some capacity (eg Colleen and Colin with raffle).
Well done to Dave and Jeremy the Suffolk ambassadors, very brave of you both to make the transition from 4-Pin and make such a good account of yourselves.
Some of the usual faces were strangely missing, but the far-flung counties (Northants, Bucks and Oxon) were well represented.
Great to see some local boys making good - Ricky Dewdney on his second-ever Open Final, and Stu Carruthers (quarter-finalist) who recorded a very brave personal best 12k break in chasing the 16k set by eventual winner Paul Sainsbury. And Paul Jobbins and Rob Jones who made the last 8 of the Plate, as did Bob Hall who lost to the eventual winner Mark Trafford.

Yeah, many thanks to Matt 'Silent' Knight also; but it should not be down to me to do this, doesn't anyone else have any thank yous or well dones or comments to make on how the day went ? It is beginning to seem to me that a general apathy is creeping in over bar billiards. tommo

Well done to Paul and Mark and commiserations to Ricky and Denise.
A great well done to the organisers, including Silent without a mic. Colin Robbins and anyone who set the tables up.
Well done to the two Suffolk guys. It must be a strange game to them.

We should all offer our help a bit more to ease the load from the shoulders of our illustrious few who hold BB leagues together all over the country.
