The table will be moved from where it was last year when you came up before, we're moving round to under the tv near the dart board, hopefully it will make it easier for everyone to see.
Dont forget, breakfast rolls at the bay from 10
See you in the morning

Plenty of games going to the last Ball 4,5,7,9,10
Well done the Bay Horse team, were all a lot stronger than last year, nice to see some progress.
The visitors struggled to score on the break leaving the hosts to capitalise on some easy starts too often
Thanks to Chris Drake for looking after us so well and to all The Bay Horse team who made the day an enjoyable one, I think we might give them more to think about next time round.
Well done to Dave and Curt for making the match happen
Plenty of friendly discussion on various rules "Vive la Difference"

A great day, well worth making the effort. Road layout improvement west of Colchester meaning journey only took 2 hours. We were looked after very well, a sumptuous breakfast greeted our arrival, and a great hot chilli for lunch. Many thanks for such great hospitality. Well, England Select got a good old-fashioned spanking on the narrow table.....but well done to the Bay Horse, the increase in confidence (and competence !) of their players over the last year was great to witness: some of them may well be short odds for next year's Open. Most importantly, we were amongst friends and long may that continue.

A very enjoyable day of billiards in Sudbury yesterday. Well done to the Bay Horse team that really showed us how to play 4- pin on a narrow table. Hopefully we can visit again next year to have another go ?
Well done to Phil Osbourne who won both games for us : ))

Well done to Dave and Curt for making the match happen Plenty of friendly discussion on various rules "Vive la Difference" To re-iterate, all the Bay Horse players played like demons, all looked like they were capable of 3k each game, suggesting that the Ashburnham would not have it so easy next time. The 50/50 break was possible (as proven in the practice session allowed beforehand), but not "reliable". And not all the top players that could have represented the pub, let alone Sudbury League, were used ! Was well impressed with the 'bottle' displayed by Colin Norlage in his comeback in the first game, and Dave Lillee's 1350 break against me in the second game, which included 3 consecutive shots into the 200 hole !

agreed tommo, and the homies were good at their 200 hole while we struggled when we needed it, last years results post was to show how well the Bay horse boys had improved which is great for them and the 4 pin game, they had good application and played their own 150 break shot which I'm sure we will be taking on board next time. Nothing negative here, Learning curve in progress

Good match, thanks to curt and dave for organizing
The narrow table certainly played its part in the match, never really got to grips with a decent break shot which I think could be said for most the england team.
Hopefully this could be an annual fixture I am sure we could give the bay horse a better run for our money next time.

Great day, great fun, great hospitality....and some bar billiards too.
Many thanks to our hosts from the Bay Horse, and to the organisers (from both sides) - I echo others in saying it would be good to make this an annual fixture.

It was a great day at the Bay and I really do hope it was enjoyed by all.
While this was just a bit of fun and the result never really mattered it was of course nice to win.
The table certainly played it's part and us 4 pinners felt things had been reversed. At our open we play on tables that most of us only see once a year while the three pinners play on them regularly, this time we were playing on a table we knew, it really is such shame we cant get 8 narrow tables for our open.
I'm sure next year will be different although I'm not too sure where you will find another narrow table to practise on, but at the end of the day it is only a bit of fun.
I think the day was topped off by the food that Kayla and Charlie put out for everyone
Once again a big thank you to all the England players, see you all next year
Dave

Not much in the way of kudos to be gained there - unless you can come up with a narrow table which would be useful to practice on.........

I'm sure the bay will be happy to host any games you'd like to play, a great narrow table and good beer ????

LOL I hope you meant a ' tempter' Gandalf. Had an interesting conversation on the Saturday with Del Atton: he reckoned Sudbury used to have regular competition with Newmarket when they had a league, they'd play 3-Pin when Newmarket were at home and 4-Pin when it was at Sudbury. Then Newmarket folded while Sudbury continued to thrive.

Any other data you have on defunct leagues such as Newmarket useful to record on here - otherwise lost for ever !

Unfortunately the person who knew the history of bar billiards around this area passed away a couple of years ago, there were rumours that he had scrap books with every newspaper cutting he could find going back years but alas it seems to have been lost
