If we get knocked out, we still got Rick and TJ to cheer for.

Matt and Joe beat Jim and John 2-1 tonight Game 1 Matt took the break after being put in but was off early and it was John and Jim that had built a 1500 lead before an excellent mid game break by Matt was enough to clinch the 1st 6960 v 3800 Game 2 John off early but no matter what Joe and Matt could do the couldn't score in this game and a steady 5k break to the bar sealed the win 6k played 1k Onto the decider Jim chose to break 1st but off on 100 Joe followed and went in with 1500 neither John or Jim could score after this or get the balls back and it was Matt who prevailed with a nice 3600 break to put them 5k up with about 4 minutes left sadly John struggled and ended up coming off giving Joe and Matt the win 6k played bp A fun night and once the windmill table was mastered it was all there

Well done to Matt and Joe, the first finalists through. Commiserations to John and Jim. Needing 3k with 3 minutes left at the end, John pulled off a great shot to the 100 off the side cushion to clear for the break, but sadly could not keep it going, leaving Silent to mop up.
Many thanks to Boball for scoring all three games.

Match to be played on Tuesday 9th August 2016 at the Windmill, Gossops Green, Crawley.Tony Jenner/Ric Cunningham (Albion B) 1 Rob Hall/Kev Hall (Hikers Rest A) 2 (8.30pm) Congratulations to Boball and Chunky who have won through to the final of the K & B Doubles. But it was a close-run thing, with all players having their moments: The Hall boys won the first leg by 9k to 2k with Kev hardly missing a shot. Just when they seemed to be heading for a straight-sets win, with 2k more from Kev already banked, Bob missed a ball by the 30 and 3k went up the Swanny: Big TJ then dug in with a magnificent effort to take the second leg 6900 to 2k. Then as sometimes happens, nerves set in for the decider and Kev was off at 400. By the time it was his third visit the scores were more or less even, seemingly with no-one able to take their chances. Finally Kev took the bull by the horns and played out to finish on 7k. A good tussle played out in a good friendly atmosphere. Commiserations to the gallant losers, so close to pulling it off.

Well done to Kev and Bob, and good luck to both teams in the final, thanks to Tommo for scoring and to the pub for laying on sandwiches. Good game and after both Kev and Rick off early in the decider it was probably a matter of who could get it back and settle down and Kev did that admirably. Great atmosphere and a pleasure to play a table that was all there but you had to use the grey matter and your skills ( that`s where my problems began ), been a good competition and I hope it goes ahead again next year and also more people enter

The Albion Fishersgate trophy cabinet must be bursting at the seams, as Jim Millward's Off-the-spot won on Sunday will now be followed by the King & Barnes Open Doubles Cup - won tonight by Matt Knight and Joe Oakley:
Game 1. Silent and Joe 8930 (Joe 8470 break), Kev and Bob Hall 3770 1-0 Game 2. Kev and Bob 12,560 (Kev 8720 break), Matt and Joe 270 1-1 Game 3. Matt and Joe 3640 (Silent missed ball on 3.5k) Kev and Bob 2780 2-1 Game 4. Kev and Bob 4500, Matt and Joe 3580 (table becoming slow at the back) 2-2 ....all square and so on to the decider: Game 5. Kev and Bob 2140, Matt and Joe 6540 (Joe riding his luck a bit but nailing it with a good break towards the end) 2-3
A boisterous evening, with a Hall and Woodhouse beer and cheese tasting going on in the other bar. Mark Woodhouse presented the prizes and then joined in the fun to represent Dorset in an Inter-County friendly challenge to Barry the landlord.
Many thanks to those who turned out to watch and especially to Adam Kuzimski who scored all but one of the games.
Hopefully the competition will be repeated next year with an increase in the line-up, now that H & W with their sponsorship have halped to get it up and running again.

Thanks to Clive for organising and running the competition, to Skippy for scoring and to him and Moose for helping to set up the table, as usual it got trickier for some as the night went on. Thanks also to Rob J for looking after us, and of course to the sponsors. Well done to our opponents on making the final but we were very pleased to have won the competition, no doubt that Joe was the star of the night and the difference between the two teams
