Lol tommo, ive just got to remember where my cue is. You're right though you will have to remember how to play four pin (as if you havent been practicing) there is more to four pin than just two shots only joking we all know it tales alot of skill to master them. Main thing to remember is the red must always be in play until its sunk after the bar has dropped, last ball down any hole off at least one cushion and the baulk line is still where the green ends and not the baulk lines you use in three pin. I did try to get a new rule in, anyone whose name begins with one of the first four letters of the alphabet gets a 3000 point start, Al and Chris Cass would of been ok with it but sorry Clive everyone voted against it

There are still a couple places left if anyone fancies a last minute entry Don't forget the pre open get together aka the Bay Horse piss up. This Friday from whatever time you can get there, two narrow tables to play on and plenty of good beer

ozzie is having some success now in the final Nige has had a few good scores with the pegs more favourably positioned this year Well done Sav taking the 4 pin title this year You had to be there ! Every 4-Pin Open throws up some different kinds of delight and surprises. This year indeed belonged to Sav, whose previous successes have been Plate-orientated ! He played super stuff all day, and beat Milko in the Qr finals and BigJimSilverFox in the Semis. Phil Osborne at last managed what he has been threatening for some years: a place in the Final, well deserved having put out Nigel (more about him in a minute) and later Curt in the Semis. Good to see Sudbury with three - yes, three - in the last eight, sadly for them they all went out at that stage. Highlight of the day was an awesome score by Nigel in one game of 14,500. Started with 5k and finished with 9.5k, playing the 'Eastbourne way'. Many, many thanks to the organisers, every sort of comfort was provided, top-up coffee, filled jacket potatoes, 4 barrels of beer that Daveuk1 had managed to blag........and cake !!!!! Once again a fantastic day, and looking forward to next year already ! tommo PS Well done, Foxy : a star is born !

Well twas a great day. Not to sure about the bay piss up on Friday though, no idea how I was still standing tonight but I did get well and truly stuffed in the plate semi, a really Big pat on the back to sav for winning the EA 4 pin open, truly deserved. I'm up the road in the tavern at the mo with the Eastbourne pissheads and gotta go back to the bay for more beer with the Northants mob, how I hate it all
Seriously a very big thank you to everyone who came along, hope you enjoyed it, let's look forward to another great weekend in Suffolk next year, the World four pin tournament is on the cards,

Think the 3x4 pinners in the quarters need a mention, they will be sure to have a bearing in the next open

Cheers Guys,
A great weekend, I hope more of the three pinners support it if the word 'World' becomes added to the title!
Thought Phil had got me in the final with a solid 2k break which gave him a 2k advantage, but managed to keep going for 100 short of 4k with my opener in the second. Keeping going with a decent break is really bum clenching when absolute pace and direction are necessary to skim the pegs each 50/50 break shot. Playing this format is a real challenge.
Great job by the organisers in a brilliant new venue with plenty real ale (Milko was not happy without John Smiths! ).
Thanks Sudbury!

Think the 3x4 pinners in the quarters need a mention, they will be sure to have a bearing in the next open Kevin Tobin (who lost narrowly to the Silver Fox) plus two who were no surprise to tommo: Tommo's tips: Wnr Jason Lawrence R-u Steve Hale A bit of wishful thinking here for some Suffolk success in their own competition !

Now that this great comp is over and striking while the iron is still hot..
the Eastbourne 4 pin summer league is currently being arranged, 3 man teams need to declare an interest by 11th April, a team can be based at any venue within reason subject to the approval of the committee
Please pm or email me with you names and venues asap so we can arrange a suitable format

Well done to Nigel on his score, must be a record for this version of the game. Also to Curt on his semi, it seems he and Nigel can perform consistently well regardless of the game, be it off the spot, 4 pin or alternative rules.
Good to see Phil make his first final and well done to my White Hart team mate Jim for reaching the semis.
Hopefully more detailed results including the Plate will posted here soon?

The New venue was a challenge for us but I hope you all agree it was for the good, far more space, and all in all just better.
While we worked hard in the build up to this tournament I really must take my hat off and thank the four girls who worked so hard durning the day, Sarah and Gillian ran our admin desk with pin point precession while Lucy and Debbie worked their butts off providing hot drinks and food throughout the day and I must stress they financed everything themselves, keeping the prices to us players down to a minimum, they were never out to make any money for themselves and they did infact donate the fifty odd pounds proffit they made to our charity pot, which I know made around £500, as soon as I know the final figure I will let you know.
I must also pass on my sincere thanks to Chris Saville and Dave Alder who were there with us in the silly early hours of Saturday morning making sure the tables were set up and ready in plenty of time for our 10-30 start, also a very big thank you from me to Chris Cass for all the work he put in behind the scene and of course for the superb programmes and also a massive pat on the back to Luke for his IT skills, we do like to think that having the scores along with the draw etc on the tv is far better and easier to keep track of then the paper chains used in some opens. We do or course also send out our appreciation and thanks to Specflue and Jeremy Fry for the continued sponsorship
But the really big thank you goes out to each and every person who makes the efford to come along to our open, whether you were playing or just there to support us, with out you our open would never take place
Hopeully see you all next year where im sure we will be able to chuck in a few more surprises and I would love to hear your thoughts on a "world four pin open"
Thanks again and congratulations to every one who took part. Only bad news for sav is that by winning we he has already gained free entry into next years tournamnet meaning he will have to come back up Suffolk and help us drink more beer.
Dave

Well what can I say - except it is now very obvious to me why I have never won an open including 4 pin So the top tips are: 1.Get up there the day before at lunchtime. 2.Get absolutely ratted during the afternoon and evening, having a fair few games on some narrow tables, drinking real ale in a fabulous pub called the Bay Horse. 3.Get the better half to come and get you ( god you are lucky ) 3.Get a full blown Chinese Meal, at the end of a very heavy load of 'sherberts', which you then don't eat. 4.Wake up at 6ish saying never again !! and groan very loudly. 5.Turn up at the venue at 7.30am to set up tables, whilst feeling like s***,stupidly letting others know you have a rough head, so they then start making loud noises just to ensure you are correct with your diagnosis, that your head is poorly. But more importantly then play your socks off all day to win the tournament, at a superb venue with fab food and organisation!!! Well now I know where I have gone wrong, see you Friday lunchtime on a similar date, at the Bay Horse 2017 Sav

I dont know about that, but I can confirm it doesn't relate to the number of pints he drunk either, I think we done that many in the first hour on Friday afternoon guess that shows the pure class of the gentleman, he kept up with us Suffolk piss heads but still managed to walk away with the winners trophy and prize money. A truley worthy champion.

Think an IQ of 3½ is too high after the number of brain cells I must have killed this weekend! Oyster was excellent at the Bay as was the Beerwitched on the day, shame we drank it all! . Had to resort to London Pride at the Tavern, sorry I left there but was instructed as management was not enjoying the dreadful din from what passed as a band.
I still think I was falsely accused of 'Babbling incoherently' as was termed on Friday evening.
Great weekend and thanks again!
BTW where did the Eastbourne lads stay?

We were at long melford b&b, very nice, and reasonable £29 a night with brekkie! Sounds good, we thought we'd treat ourselves and went to the Mill, £90 a night for a room with no brekkie! and the 'superior' room was pretty pokey with absolutely no drawer space. Room was stiflingly hot and windows barely opened and when they did we had the smokers from the wedding reception laughing and joking under our window at chroist knows what hour and staff first thing in the morning, even woke me up!!
Cross that one off the list.

Sav were you staying at the actual mill hotel, big white building that probably has hotel written on it or at the mill house? which I'm told is opposite If it's any consolation I don't remember you babbling Friday night, but to tell the truth I don't remember much from Friday night or Saturday night come to that, I do sorta remember being dragged up the tavern, I'm Dam sure I said I didn't wanna go but as always I was forced into it. Most of us then ended up back at the bay but two people were missing, I think I heard food mentioned Can't wait for next year

I am over the moon to tell you that we will be sending off a cheque to funding Neuro over the weekend for the amazing total of £500 May I please thank each and everyone of you who came to our open and helped us raise this money by donating raffle prizes, putting in to our collections and then buying raffle tickets. On the day we raised just over £490, which included a donation of over £50 from the girls who were doing the food, that ammounted to their entire profit, so they served us all day out of the kindness of their hearts and didn't take a penny for themselves. The SBBA chucked in the last few quid to round the total off to £500.
I must also thank Jeremy Fry and Specflue for their continued support and sponsorship and the Masonic for giving us the venue free of charge, I think you will all agree it was far better than spoons.
Hope to see you all again next year
Dave
