Week 7 report compiled by Andy Allison
Ashburnham Arms have established a 4 point lead at the top of the Hastings Bar Billiards League at the half-way point in the season. They recorded a convincing victory over Prince of Wales by 5-0. League Secretary Sandy Harmer was their leading scorer on the night. All the other matches in the League were close-fought encounters. The internal battle at the Jenny Lind went in favour of the B side. Debutant Jez Horsler got the A team off to a good start with a clear win, but Tom Palmer, Ollie Robbins and Sam Taylor supplied the wins to see the B team to their second successive victory by 3-2. There was a similar result at the Nags Head, who faced Royal Albert, where Nags Jamie Minihane was involved in another high scoring game. This week he came out as the winner with a score of 5970 against Tony Gates respectable 4640. Dad Clive saw Nags home by 3-2 with 5190. At the Westfield Plough skipper Alec Pope had a very mixed evening. He got his side away well with a 4940 score and saw Stuart Chant put them 2-0 up. The Andys, Ellison and Eldridge, brought the scores level for the Old King John but Alec couldn't reproduce his earlier form and Chris Lamb won a tense decider for the league's third 3-2 score of the evening, keeping the OKJ in second place.

Week 11 report compiled by our Andy Ellison
League newcomers Prince of Wales pulled off the shock of the season in the Hastings Bar Billiards League with a victory over stalwarts Westfield Plough. The evening seemed likely to go according to form as James Bown put Plough ahead with a 3760 score. However Sam Kelly, Pete Crabtree and Jason Wheeler stepped up to record Prince's third win of the season before Alec Pope eased the scoreline to 3-2 for Prince. At the top of the table Old King John pulled ahead after a 5-0 win at Jenny Lind A. On an evening of low scores Garry Tomlin and Andy Ellison had the best scores for the OKJ and Phil Roberts for the Jenny was unlucky to suffer defeat whilst recording one of the best totals of the night. Ashburnham Arms fell to second position despite a 3-2 win against Prince Albert at home. Dave White with 4720 and Mick Osborne with 3700 put Ash in a winning position and then a really close duel emerged between Mike Daw for Albert and Sandy Harmer for Ash which went to the final ball with Mike prevailing by 4790 to 4720. Nags Head overcame Jenny Lind B by 4-1 at home with Steve McGill's 5740, Clive Minihane's 3410 and good wins for Steve Featherstone and Sean Croft establishing a sound base. For Jenny B "KC" Challis rescued a win for his side for the second successive week, this time with the aid of a black peg from his opponent,
