Limes Triples (now known as the Maurice Oliver Triples) - Saturday 25th June. 11am registration for 11.30 start.
This is a fun competition, held annually at the Limes, South Merstham (great pub) for Redhill League members and a limited number of special guests. (To find the Limes, once you go under the bridge turn right down Albury Road rather than straight on/left to St Nick's School)
For the random Draw beforehand every name goes into a hat for either Pool A, Pool B or Pool C dependent on skill level. Each of the Triples thus drawn at random is put into one of three or four groups, and you play against the other 3 triples in your group, then there's quarterfinals, semifinals and the grand Final. And of course a Plate competition. £3 to enter - includes the Plate.
The C-rated player in the combi has 1st break in first prelim game, the B player first go in the 2nd game and the A player goes first in the 3rd game. At all times 3000 is the maximum break, if you go over you not only lose the break but have to wear a dunce's/jester's/donkey/clown's hat until someone else does similar or has a black peg to take it off you.
Always a great day with lots of see-sawing in fortune (and ee-awing !) and the inevitable great banter. ;)
Colin Robbins has asked me to publicise this event, and as of today there are still 15 slots left - available to anyone interested (you don't have to belong to Redhill !) You can notify your interest on here - but please follow up by phoning Jason who is maintaining the list of competitors. (You may PM me for Jason's number.)
PS. The next day is the England v County Select friendly.......so a good chance to have a look at the tables beforehand !

Yeah Bob, Sure that Magners (Gary P) will be keeping an eye on this thread too. A pleasing response so far.

Morning, all the above names are in the comp. Just to correct the times, it is a 10.30 meet for an 11am start. Cheers

Latest news is that there is now the full line-up of 48 for this competition, with 2 reserves on standby. This is a marvellous response, and entirely fitting as sadly it will be the last-ever held at the Limes, as Jason and Trisha are retiring from the trade and moving back 'oop north. Colin has asked me to convey that there will be a final chance to say goodbye on Wed 29th June when there will be an 'open evening' at the Limes from 7.30pm onwards with all welcome and nibbles provided.

Yes I can confirm that Colin is providing a menu. In addition there is a raffle (donations kindly accepted) and for those that haven't been before good parking and TV's to keep us informed of any sporting events that might be happening on Saturday!

Thanks to Gary for once again organising a great fun day.
Best wishes to Jason and Trish in the future and thanks for hosting the competition for so many years - sad to think that was the final Limes Triples (although we were assured not the last Surrey Triples)
The Triples was won by Dave Constable's team, with Chelle's team runners up. Dave Ingram's team won the plate, with (I think) Matt Knight's team as runners up.
