Well done Boball on three counts:
1 Submitting a good write-up, ending the suspense (the first time we've had to wait till the next day for someone to put something up). 2 Having the courage (or optimism!) to back yourself to do well - although I see 3 others agreed ! 3 Reaching the Semi-Final of an Open - A tremendous achievement at such a young age.

I wonder if that has ever happened before - a player winning the High Break Award with a table run out and then losing a final? Well done to Mark Trafford on a brilliant come back to win the Kent Open, unlucky Nigel who also played superbly all day. Congratulations to Pete Sainsbury who beat me in the Plate Final and played the table far better than I did and helped me to avoid the distinction of "successfully" defending another Plate Competition....!! A really big thank you to Pete Sainsbury and everybody else for all their hard work in organising and running the event.

Hope evryone got there on time .........so I take it you missed the boat ? In the past I've twice made it by the skin of my teeth - Trouble is, you get to Tunny Wells and think you're there, but Tonbridge is further on than you think. One year I allowed an extra hour for the journey and went via Ivy Hatch - but still got held up for half an hour in one of the villages due to temporary traffic lights !

I wonder if that has ever happened before - a player winning the High Break Award with a table run out and then losing a final? Good question Dave but years ago you couldn't win the high break award if you made the final. I checked an old BBQ from 1996 and made a 26,400 bk in the 4th Rd of the Northants Open against Mark Brewster but as I reached the final against John Burrows I couldn't claim it, Les Green got it with 22,990 which was the 5th highest of the day! For those that don't know this was the highest scoring (National) final of all time as John ran the table out for 23,630 I then missed on 23,620 with a minute to go and John cleared up with 530. Those were the days my friend.

I'd never seen anything quite like that before, and I'm not sure I have done since, either!
