Congratulations to Nigel Senior on his victory in the Grand Prix today, beating Tony Cross in the final. Nigel ran the table out for 22,000 and Tony was on target to catch him before missing the one-up at just over 11k in his reply. Nigel had beaten Curt Driver in the semi-final and Tony chased down 16.5k to beat me after the end of some very competitive group games that had many twists and turns before the winners were found. Mark Brewster won the High Break Award with 22.3k and there were plenty more very high breaks with the tables playing well. Many thanks to Dave Alder for running the competition, Nigel for managing to get a full line up of players and to all involved in setting up the tables and organising another good day.

Well done to Nigel on winning his second grand prix in a row. Massive credit to him on getting the 16 organised, I know he had concerns over the competition but the quality was high. Well done also to Tony who was brilliant in the semi-final and put up a quality display in the final....think anyone might have struggled to chase a perfect 22k!! Personally, I couldn't have played much better but Dave's big scores in two of his games proved too much.

I would like to say how chuffed I was to play in this tournament and some would probably say out of my depth but I am glad I held my own against my opponents and even had two quick powered breaks as well I would also like to congratulate Stuart curruthers on making the grandprix and I suppose he was the difference maker in stopping matt knight going through with some fantastic breaks so well done mate you should be proud

Even with the circumstances of how I qualified I am very proud to have played in such a great day, and while it was a shame that so many of the higher placed qualifiers dropped out hopefully I justified my place in the event. This could be the one and only chance I get to play in this so was happy to get a win in one of my games with a reasonable break as well. I guess I did make a difference but it certainly wasn’t the difference I was hoping to make given how the final group games turned out. Matt was probably the form player in the event having played superbly to comfortably beat both Dave and Martin in his first two matches, and then I decided to turn up against him having played poorly in my previous game against Dave (although that is a bit unfair on Dave who played brilliantly to keep me off the table for almost the entire match). Have no doubt however that Matt will be qualifying from a group in the Grand Prix in the not too distant future.
