Report for series 6 by Sandy Harmer
Hastings A continued in their quest to stay in the top division of the Sussex Bar Billiards Interleague after a fine 5-2 win at home to Redhill A. Hastings lost the reverse fixture 6-1 in week one and it seemed like the win was going back to Redhill after Tony Cross and Gary Powell (10,150) put the visitors 2-0 ahead, but in true Hastings fashion the home side came back, Bob Osborne (8,170) and a superb performance from captain Phil Osborne (12,150) drew the game level. Mike Daw (12,150) and Colin Southouse (10,470) put in fantastic performances under pressure to seal the win for Hastings A with a game to spare. That left Sandy Harmer (14,690) to score his personal PB and win the final game of the night to give Hastings A a four point cushion over bottom of the table Mid Sussex A.
In division three Hastings B played away to Mid Sussex B. The team included new player Ray Roberts who performed very well and won his match, other winners in the 4-3 win were Chris Haynes, Roy Harmer and the highest scorer for the visitors Clive Minihane. This win consolidated the second place in the league for Hastings B who are on the tails of West Sussex who remain unbeaten but only two points separate the two teams.

Report by Sandy Harmer
The league had a bye week last week but I do have a report for you as a re-arranged league game was played last week and one sussex interleague game too.
The Ashburnham A and the Nags Head A took advantage of the bye week to play their postponed handicap league fixture from week two. The visitors started the night well with Clive Minihane playing well to give them the lead, Sandy Harmer (8,650) hit a 8,340 break to bring the game level only for Jamie Minihane (5,550) to put the visitors back in the lead with a very well timed 5,000 break. Dave White (8,420) drew the game level once again with another good break of 7,250 but the visitors took the victory as Clive Minihane (6,900) won his second game of the night to give the Nags Head A a 3-2 win.
The Sussex Interleague continued on the 12th February, Hastings B had their game against Brighton C postponed so there was only one game for the league to keep an eye on as Hastings A travelled to take on a very strong Worthing A side that won the game in Hastings 6-1 earlier in the season. A new table and a high class of opponents meant Hastings A struggled in the first two games as Ian Lelliott (10,060) and Terry Molloy (7,840) put the home side 2-0 up. Hastings A captain Phil Osborne tried his hardest to get Hastings on the board but his good score of 7,100 was in vain as his opponent Gerry Fitzjohn hit 9,310 to make it 3-0. Sandy Harmer (9,940) continued his good form with a match winning break of 9,000 to finally bring some cheer to the visitors but it was short lived as Kevin Tunstall (9,850) won the fifth game to seal the victory for Worthing A. Stuart Mepham (10,170) continued to pile misery on the visitors as he made it 5-1. Bob Osborne (9,560) made sure Hastings A ended the night on a positive note as the Hastings bar billiards stalwart put in a top performance to make the scoreline a more respectable 5-2.
