Think you're right on the bagatelle, but not so sure on the 'bar billiards' looks like a small snooker table up against the wall, I think it has pockets in the 'front' corners.

I love the way men always used to wear trilby hats when playing in those days. These days it would be considered unlucky to wear a hat indoors.

I've looked at it a couple of times now, and the format of white balls and one darker (red?) ball suggests to me it's probably a Bagatelle. Very hard to tell but the end may be curved and the red is recovered from what would probably be a recess at the top-end and re-spotted in a similar way to Bagatelle. It would be very early for any kind of Bar Billiards proper I guess.

These days it would be considered unlucky to wear a hat indoors. apparently they wore their 'ats during sex but were good enough to put their ciggies out just incase the poor lady got some hot ash in her eye.... no mention of the position though...one can only hazard a guess! uuuuh moother! turned out nice again!
