Hi Dave, I'll take a look in the morning, but suspect a lot of people will not be able to open a macro enabled spreadsheet, Sav don't baffle me with macros I thought Suffolk done well to get the draw up within an hour of it taking place. (thanks Luke, it would of took me hours to type it out using my mobile) So good to see in group 1 C S will not only be donating to the C H snoring club, but also to MY drinking fund (New rule that winners buy the beer). Remember us four pin players play for the drinking and we have a few tricks up our sleeves, like every soft drink or coffee will be laced with a shot of something, a second soft drink or coffee must be accompanied by a double shot of something etc etc, nah, we just want it to be a fun day that is enjoyed by all On a serious note! Please remember we are raising money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance, they operate two helicopters, one based in Norwich and the other in Cambridge and any donations of raffle prizes will be gratefully received See you all in March dor a fun day of bar billiards Dave

No problem Dave, Colin has covered it for now (thanks Colin) In addition Groups 1 - 8 commence play at 1030hrs, 9 - 16 commence at 1300hrs.
Most people would have to over-ride their security settings to enable macros and open a macro embedded Excel spreadsheet and that is not an entirely safe practice that I would recommend. Embedded macros are one of the worst ways of spreading viruses.

new groups.xlsx (11.83 KB) Attached should be the revised draw with less or even no spelling mistakes. Please note this will probably change as bobhall could be replaced by gillian Towse, bobhall assured me his cheque and entry form was sent off 10 days ago but we've received nothing, I have sent him numerous PMs and given him our bank details so he can transfer the money direct but as I've had no response I can only assume that he doesn't want to enter Dave

Please note Rob Hall's name has regrettable been removed from the draw and replaced by Gillian Towse, this is simply because over three weeks ago he promised to send us a cheque that to date has never arrived, he then promised to transfer the money direct into the Suffolk Bar Billiards Associations bank account but again that hasn't happened. Chris has held on with the programmes but needs to get typing them out sooner rather than later. Gillian is still more than happy to stand down so if his money does turn up he can still take gillians place but it will be her name in the draw

Hopefully by now you will of all seen the draw for this years Specflue E A four pin open.
If you have been draw in any of the first 8 groups can we please ask you to do your best to be at the venue by around 10am, this will give you time to register and find your way to the bar to buy me a beer. Remember parking will be the same as last year, our main car parks are free but you still have to get a ticket from one of the machines, while there is a few parking spaces available outside the venue, these are restricted so while ideal for dropping people off you will almost certainly find yourself getting a parking ticket if you park there all day.
Please remember we will be raising money on the day for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and any donations of raffle prizes will be gratefully recieved.
See you all next month
Dave

A great day once again at Sudbury for their well-received Open. Tables were set up nicely and a full array of skills were on show, with mixed fortunes for most of us. All I can tell you is that the winner will have come from one of these four players: Semi-finalists: Phil Osborne v Nigel Senior; Keith Sheard v Simon Coleman.
Good to meet Taffy of Histon, Cambs. and of course Ali, his lady: He had a great event and made it to the last sixteen. Northants players all performed well on the day, too.
Very many thanks to the organisers, Sudbury Laague committee, those manning the kitchen (breakfast/ home cooked dinners/ and cake !!!!) and everyone involved in helping with the setting up.
Roll on 2018, I'll be there, God willing.

Just a quick thank you to everyone that came up to Sudbury and made it another great weekend. And a special thanks to Dave for finally getting the tables to Sudbury and then working his nuts off to take them in and and back out again Saturday night, obviously also a big thanks to everyone who helped assembling the tables and taking them down again.
I hope everyone enjoyed their time in sudbury.
I am sure Luke will be able to provide us with all the stats and scores during the week, I wouldn't hold out to much hope of it being today though as when I last saw Luke at around 2 this morning he was being carried out of a kebab shop a bit the worse for drink.

A great weekend Dave and thanks for the usual Sudbury fantastic hospitality once again.
Interesting route Dave Alder took going up there!! (Norwich is nice this time of year!)
Had more time to set up the tables this year so I hope I got them all as even as possible.
Well done to Nigel who really stood out on the day as the only player I saw with the confidence to play the 50/50 break where possible and to reverse it for the fourth shot. He lost a few but scored consistently heavily all day. Bad luck Keith on losing out so narrowly on a tight final.
Nice to see local lad Andy winning the plate much to the pleasure of Luke and his other supporters. He also won the 'killer' on the Friday night at the Bay beating Nigel at the death.
363 days to the next Bay Horse piss-up!

Ok my head is slowly starting to clear and all I can say is WOW what a weekend.
Congratulations to Nigel who once again proved he can turn his hand to four pin mastering the split break break to perfection. I hope you will agree he was a worthy winner.
There has to be a special mention to Keith though, who made to final without the help of any John smiths and it was also noted and appreciated the way he played using a more conventional 4 pin break.
Mal must be gutted as it looked like he was going to steal the plate but Suffolks Andy Hill had other ideas and kept his nerve with a last ball victory to prove we do have some talented players.
They bay horse piss up now seems to be on the bar billiards calendar and has become a tradition that people do seem to enjoy. Charlie and Kayla done us proud again with their hospitality and the lovely food provided free, as they refused to take a penny from the bus stop we ran but instead insisted we put the £20 from it into the charity pot, this was then further boosted when Kayla won the bus stop and immediately handed me her twenty pounds winnings back with instructions to put it into the charity fund aswell. Then Chris Haynes organised his game of killer which raised another few quid for the charity, hmm am I dreaming or did Andy Hill win? Jeremy also put one of his narrow tables in the bay and said what ever money it took over the weekend will also be donated to the east Anglian Air Ambulance, so hopefully we will have raised around sixty pounds from the friday night alone
Thank you again to everyone for their help and support.
Dave

Dear Dave Lille and Chris Cass and all from Sudbury that did so much, especially the food staff !!! wow how fab at great prices thank you ( Hope names are right) We had a great weekend Our thanks to the Bay Horse for a Great Room and their hospitality - nothing was too much trouble for them - a fantastic pub and stay. Thanks to all that turned up to set the tables up from SUDBURY and SAV, CHRIS N, I know Dave appreciated your support. I turned up to help set tables up too. My only complaint is there are very few to take down. I get a little cross that the top 3 pin players never seem to be there to help setting up or taking down, yet some of us pay an extra days stay to do at least one side of event when we enter events. ( ( My moan over for now but I will be raising at AEBBA AGM and the top players need to consider this) A very well run day by the desk so smooth !!! I loved playing Andy in my group and again in the semis - a young lad that truly and thoroughly deserves his win, not only as a player but a true sport in encouraging his opponent throughout the game whenever he plays. It is rare that you come across a young player whom just scores, plays and encourages... he does not talk about himself, just plays the game - a little star in the future I hope he wins the main soon. Well done Nigel - unlucky Keith Well I look forward to next year - Dave please book room 1 for us !!! A well run and great weekend. Thank you Chris x

Hello everyone, please find the competition results attached here in an excel workbook (non macro-enabled) Opens Result.xlsx (49.67 KB) Very enjoyable weekend once again, I ended up a few beers down after losing, but I cannot express my happiness for Andy who I think played some great bar billiards throughout the day, I can safely say he celebrated appropriately afterwards as we traipsed around Sudbury town drinking everything. I'd like to thank Chris, Dave, Steve, Lucy, my mother (Sarah) and Gill for helping host the event and putting on the food for everyone. Congratulations to Nigel on narrowly beating Keith in the final, hopefully we may be able to prove our worth next year in the main. Look forward to seeing you all next year, if not before.

There has to be a special mention to Keith though, who made the final without the help of any John smiths and it was also noted and appreciated the way he played using a more conventional 4 pin break. Thanks Dave. Well it wasn't a classic final by any means as Nigel or myself couldn't get to grips with either of our ways of playing the table. We both got the break back numerous times but couldn't score much at all but I still thought Nigel was well clear when the bar dropped so was amazed when it worked out that it was a last ball game to win the match! Yet another tournament I've thrown away for not checking the scores and I wont get a better chance than this to beat Nigel at this variation of the game. Well done to him though on his 2nd 4 pin title. Thoroughly enjoyed this event again but a shame there was a an issue with one of my matches against Tracey the 4pin lady player! Maybe we should have a set of rules wrote out for this event ? Thanks to all those who made this event possible and will hopefully be back next year for some John Smiths!! Keith
