Finals Night is being held at the Hassocks Hotel on Monday 5 June, with the first match (Sprackling Cup) starting at 19:00. There will be a raffle and, as in previous years, it would be very much appreciated if every team could donate prizes - suggestion is two prizes to the value of around £10.00. It would be great to see as many people supporting the night as possible. The provisional order of play is shown in the programme, which can be downloaded from the Lewes League website.

I heard a rumour that the first person to win the Lewes men's singles title five times gets to keep the cup. Can anyone confirm this?

Rule changes Proposal 1 Build into the league rules the facility to have a 4 player rule to enable teams with a restricted number of player to continue in the Lewes League. Seconder required See Billinghust slightly ammended 4 player rule below 29) PLAYER SHORT RULE To give a fifth player a chance to arrive the first four games are to be played normally. If after the first four games have been played and a team is still a player short, the opposing captain draws one of the four players to play a second time. The result of this game will count for the team result, but not the player’s individual record that is playing for the second time Once a player has played the extra game, he cannot be drawn as the extra player until the other players have taken their turn If it is a league match, and it is the away player that is a player short, that player does not have the break, giving it to the home player. After the opening break the rest of the game is played normally. If it is the home team that is a player short, the game is played normally If it is a Team Cup match, the opposing player has the opening break, but there is no even break If both teams are a “Player Short” then that game is declared a draw

Needs to clarify a couple of points, e.g. a) How is the draw made? b) What if a team is 2 players short? BUT, shouldn't all this discussion be in an AGM thread? Why is it under Finals Night?
