Hi All
Nigel is currently working out the schedule, however I can confirm the competition will start at 10.00am. Nigel is going to arrange that competitors from Oxon, Bucks and Hants will play later in their groups so will not need to be there at the very start.
Full details will be published later

Hi all
Please be there for a 10.00am start for everybody except as below
Pauline Withey. 10.45 Cliff Slade, Lee Radford, Sean Stratford, Matt Jones, Tony Webster and Kyle Ingram all 11.30.
Schedule is
Commence group games 10.00am Last group game 16.45
Last 16 - 17.30
Final 19.45.
As we have allowed 45 minutes for each group round we should be quicker than that as it will probably only take 40minutes per set.

Of course the Group games should have no problem with scorers as the other players within each Group should be there to score (Maybe !!!)

Had to get away as the semi finals were getting under way, but can I say I thought the groups worked well in that all got plenty of bar billiards, well worked out formula thanks to Nigel.
Thanks to Pete for running the day, the helpers who put up and set up the tables, the raffle sellers, the club for hosting and Colin for doing the food, also to the table sponsors.
As I said the groups worked but I am not convinced this is the way forward if entries are going to continue to be down, but w do need to look at the future because all seem to be struggling for entries, and it will not be viable to run the opens financially. Kent was helped by table sponsors, but that is not always going to be the case, we definitely need that talked about think tank and maybe find a way that we could attract a sponsor or the game.

Thanks to Pete and his team of helpers for a great weekend of billiards. Really pleased to have won my home open. In the final Matt went first but came off on around k2 , I couldn't get the balls back and Matt did putting another k12 on the scoreboard. I managed to play out my game for k15 to take the match. I did have a massive bit of luck with my first split of the game. A 50/10 split that I caught miles to thick. The red spun round the 50 and straight down the 200 hole . Curt

Well done to Curt Driver on winning the Kent Open. Curt beat Matt Jones in the final, Matt went first and was off quite early but in getting the balls back was able to set a target of 14k. Curt managed to reach the target relatively comfortably bar one outrageous fluke early on In the semi-finals Curt beat Phil Osborne and Matt beat Gerry Fitzjohn, both of them achieving comfortable victories. In the Plate final Dave Ingram thrashed Matt Knight. Dave did miss early but in trying to get the balls back next visit I toppled a peg, giving him the balls back. Dave made an excellent break to set me a target of 16k. I never got going so Dave ran out an easy winner, well done Dave. In the plate semi-finals Dave had beaten Joe Oakley in a close match on tricky table 7 and I beat Richard Corbould who played well to get over 9k in the first leg, before unfortunately pegging it. I made enough first visit in the second. There were some close and competitive matches in the group stages with some of the groups very tight for who qualified High break men to Paul Sainsbury (over 23k) and Ladies Pauline Withey (over 7k), well done guys Thanks to Pete Sainsbury for running the day

High break men to Paul Sainsbury (over 23k) and Ladies Pauline Withey (over 7k), well done guys Not forgetting the new trophy (kindly donated by Curt Driver) for the highest break in the Plate which was awarded to Matthew Knight with an excellent 18k plus break. Many thanks to all involved in organising and running the day, especially Pete Sainsbury who ran the admin desk and was kept very busy keeping all the scores up to date in the Group matches. An excellent day with a lot of games.
