Albion Fishersgate 5 Mid-Sussex Conservative Club 1
A good result for the home team (despite a woefully inept performance from the Kent Plate Specialist! ) although most of the games could have gone the other way.... I'm sure that TJ will put the scores up and provide a match report later.
World Champion - 2014 Oxon Open Winner - 2014 AEBBA Mixed Pairs Winner - 2014 (with Colleen Park) Highest Break - 23,930 (Brighton League @ Albion Fishersgate 18/05/2016) Bucks Plate Winner - 2009 & 2010 (The ONLY player to ever "successfully" defend a Plate Competition!)
A strange game and as Dave says plenty of chances.
James off early and then the balls went difficult, and I am not sure who Neil had upset in among the gods but he played some excellent shots but nothing would go for him and with the balls remaining awkward throughout, and Neil black pegging twice trying to clear them James came away with the spoils.
Ros opened with just under 1k, ball ending in front of the 10 hole, after a few attempts each Ros cleared it, added a few more, Dave got them back only to leave the 100 split short and in trying to hit it lost his score, Ros built slightly on her lead, with time ticking down Dave got them back and with one ball left it was the 100 hole to win for either, a number of goes each before Dave gratefully brought home the point.
Tony opened with 4.5k and touched, Trevor again played some good shots for no reward, TJ stayed in front.
Paul opened with 1.2k and added a few more before Ian got them back and having got out of position decided to touch up on 4k, there was enough time for Paul if he could have got them straight back but took him a few shots so he ran out of time.
Ian opened with a 3.5k break and the home maintained the lead throughout.
Neil off at 1.3k, a number of goes each before TJ got the balls back but somehow put the white behind on the break, from there Neil and Ros kept their lead as Tony and Dave could not get the break back.
A good evening with the Con Club, look forward to the return and checking out a new venue. Thanks to the Albion for the French bread and sausages.
Boball lost to H. Andy F-W beat Jim Del beat Jamie Barry beat Andy B Bob & Barry lost to H & Jamie Del & Andy lost to Jim & Andy
The table, which normally plays so well, was very tricky. H turned over a 6k deficit in the 1st. Del comfortably in front in the 3rd. Andy B doing all the scoring in the last. The other 3 games very scrappy.
Well done to Ash on his performance on the night, however we did manage to lose another leg with a black peg as the bar dropped
Thanks to Brian for getting the game running after a somewhat shambolic start and for scoring 3 of the legs (we did the others) A crash course in scoring needed for some of the home players I think....
