YMCA are quietly going about winning matches are ready to pounce catching up other teams with 2 games in hand could shoot to the top. Dick Cable led the way, Steve Vizor gained Plough’s only point. Peter Gibbs heads the top ten with an entry in the 10K club.
Limeburners continue an excellent start with another strong home win & remain at the top. Gordon Budd secured Windmill’s point. A close leg followed which saw Ding Johnson just edging out Mike Davies. Paul Phipps & Mick Johnson both with 5000 scores made sure of the win.
Match of the week has to be Holbrook B’s domination of a strong Roffey side taking all the points to put them level with the Limeburners. John Slee took the first in a very tight contest with Gareth Lloyd. But Roffey were powerless to make a comeback, Ricky Dewdney & Trevor Trevett took the winning points.
Crawley Club was the first to try out the Handcross top in its new position. Les Jones had a solid start in the first followed by a nervy second between Paul Jobbins & Jack Gaffney which saw Paul needing the 200 to win, the ball rimmed the hole knocked the Black peg of its spot but it somehow stayed upright. Ian Giffen made it 2 – 1. Steve King & Peter Fisher finished the night to take the win.
Hare & Hounds are in a strong position 6 points clear & with a game in hand will need something major to knock them off. Big hitters Dave Howlett & Glynn Owen couldn’t get going this week Dave just made a win but Alan Parker was too much for Glynn as he recorded the night’s best score of 4650. Keith Newman was the Hounds best with 3620.
Handcross finally record their first win against the Norfolk, which sees them climb up to 3rd place. Wins for Darrell Skinner, Chris Kirkham & Kevin Hall. Kevin topping the card on 5600. Norfolk’s Richard Street in the 2nd & Martin Hartwell in the 5th kept them mid table with 2 valuable points.
Windmill B made 2nd place their own this week with a strong home win against Holbrook A. The first 2 went Windmill’s way, Richard Marshall gave his team a way back into the match but Mike Lennon made use of the home break in the 4th to clinch the win & just for good measure Dave Lennon made it 4 with 5110.
