I have taken a call from Daniel Marsh today to say that the Queens Hotel has been sold.
The hotel is being converted from a 3* into a 4* Mercure Hotel.
At the time of the Bournemouth Pairs the new owners will be refurbishing 2 floors of one of the wings, 317 to 327 and 417 to 427 all of which are doubles/twin or triples.
This means that 22 of the rooms are unavailable for our Bournemouth Weekend. Some of your requested rooms will not be available to you this time.
Daniel has offered to put all affected in the East Cliff, which is a Hallmark 4* hotel on the seafront and 1 minute walk from the Queens. This will be at no extra cost to the players, as it definitely will cost more there, with all meals taken at the Queens for all of those in the 22 rooms. He has even offered to lay on a mini-bus free of charge for the duration, which does mean that anyone with mobility difficulties would have a free shuttle. You will still be able to use the Queens Leisure facilities or if you stay at the East Cliff you can use the Carlton facilities next door as it is a sister hotel.
I need therefore 22 rooms/bookings for people who only want Friday and Saturday nights BB or DBB or just Saturday night BB or DBB to volunteer to stay in the East Cliff instead please. This can be families too and those in single occupancy of a double. (Not singles)
Please don't turn this thread into a moan. The Queens has loyally supported our event for many years, given sponsorship, prizes, put on the disco, horse racing night, quiz and supplied our playing area free of charge for 3 days every year. You will not get this anywhere else at this price with the same facilities, they support and help with the tables and give great service.
So please, please I do need 22 rooms to be placed at the East Cliff or I will need to consult with the AEBBA Committee about what we do next.
