Thank you to Mark Trafford and his helpers for getting this Open to go ahead, thank you to those who helped with the tables, and well done considering tables only able to get in the club 2.5 hours before the competition started so tables had to be erected and set up.
Start with the club, nice venue, did think could have had bacon rolls on early and perhaps food be served a bit later, but only a small negative.
Tables interesting and certainly had to adapt to play various games, but sure they settled from when first set up hurriedly, and the challenge the same for all. On the positive we did not lose an open, hopefully this open will go back to February next year, as felt with Surrey two weeks ago and Guernsey 2 weeks ahead, this impacted on numbers.
Well done to the two Marks on their respective wins, and to Keith and Ian on being runners-up. In the main Mark beat Martin Cole and Keith beat Gerry Fitzjohn. The quarter finalists were Dawn Jordan, Steven Sheard, Damian Coates and myself, sure someone will give a full update. Old duffers memory not what it used to be.
High break award for the men went to Lorin Clough and the ladies Dawn Jordan.

Thanks to everyone who entered the competition yesterday, hope you all had an enjoyable day. I am personally over the moon to win the Oxon open yesterday, never a slow day when running the competition as well as playing in it! Maybe all opens should be run from this venue as i won the Berkshire Open from there when i held it a few years ago! With myself and Keith Sheard in the final, in a repeat of last year, fortunately for me, the result was differnt! Well done also to Mark Brewster in winning the plate beating Ian lelliott in the final. Lorin Clough & Dawn Jordan taking the high break awards with 19,050 & 4,480 respectively. Another well done also to Dawn in reaching the quarter final. Lastly, thanks to Ian Gordon, Sid Ponting, Phil McFarland, Adam Ingram in helping to set the tables up in the morning. Always tricky when doing this on the day but as Tony has said previously, they were all playable if you worked at them. In repsonse to Tony's comments, i did request that some kind of rolls were available from 10.30 so not sure why they didn't do this and didn't want to speak to them about it yesterday. If we stay there for next season then i will pick this up with them. I will certainly hope to have this open back in it's normal weekend in February next year.
