It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I learnt of the passing of our dear friend Bob Allsworth at home on Saturday. Bob had his health issues over the years but heart surgery and a new new pacemaker in the last year seemed to be doing their job and he was in good sorts.
Bob was a real stalwart of Oxon bar billiards as I believe he played in all four Oxfordshire leagues at some time but his heart lay primarily with Oxford and latterly, Eynsham of which he was Chairman. A quiet man but he got things done and everyone liked him and respected him. His team-mates at the Vikings Club will miss him enormously....
I personally played with Bob in the late sixties/early seventies when he started playing at the Isis Tavern on the river at Iffley and while he was never a huge scoring player, he was dependable for a solid game and was difficult to beat.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and our condolences go to his close friends and family. RIP Bob - you were a lovely bloke.
When religious people ask me "But don't you believe there's something better than us in the universe?", I answer, "Yes, most dogs." (R.Gervais)
Wonderful words Tony. Bob was a great guy who I played with for many years. He never had a bad word to say about anyone or anything. I will personally miss him very much. RIP Bob...you were one of the best!
That's awful news. I was very fond of Bob and, in my opinion, was one of the gentlemen of the game. We got on very well and played a lot of good games against each other. He'll be sorely missed. RIP big fella.
I was to hear the news of Bob's passing when I was away at the weekend. Bob was a lovely guy who enjoyed his Bar Billiards and OUFC. We've had many good times together, and I will miss him. RIP Bobber.
news I knew Bob through work and bar billiards which goes back over 30 years . Myself and Bob always joked that in all years we have played bar billiards we never got to play against each other , sadly this will never happen . RIP Bob you will missed by everyone .
