Swan Nomads 5 - Tarring Club 0
Two weeks running with opponents having only three players. Each week we have just played the first three with the last two being walk-overs. As the defaulting team only had three players we worked on the basis that the four player rule doesn't apply.

Gary, did you know in advance that the teams only had 3 players? Only it is a very long way for some people to travel with no chance of playing.
Personally it is very disappointing to see that you have has this happen to you twice in a row and those being the first two weeks of the season, accepting there might be very valid reasons for this occurring.

Albion Fishersgate A 2-3 Albion Fishersgate C **Martin 9220 - 3680 Jeannie B Boball 1620 - 6380 Tuppster** Coxy 590 - 10,010 Matt** **Geoff 1570 - 6470 The Chellster Mark 9740 - 8650 Nigel** Good win for us, the Chellster with the vital leg, an excellent win v Geoff, this after me and Tupps won with the break. That meant the last leg was dead as far as the match was concerned by high-quality with Nigel off early, Mark a very good 9k, Nigel flying but falling short after having to make an excursion or two. Fun night, plenty of laughs and good bar billiards chat, all in the company of some great people

There is no problem with using the 4 player rule if a team is unfortunate to have only 3 players . The same principle will apply with the last game (being the fourth in this case). The team that is short will draw one of their players after the third game to play the fourth, but they forfeit the break, whether home or away. Don't just assume that the rule can't be used, Please ask next time

We did not know in advance on either occasion. Last week, the Marine Landlord & Landlady had been away on holiday and John Hayes was the captain. Illness had left them down to 3, but John was unable to phone to get any subs and the Landlady had only arrived back that evening (with the Landlord still away) Last night the Tarring club were expecting Dave to arrive - as the 4th player, so even they didn't know in advance.

We looked at the AGM propsal that spoke of teams that only had 4 players. Does this actually apply whatever the number, e.g. 2 or 3 and if you had 3 could two play again. Ros is correct that we did not know in advance and Tony did try and contact Dave.

I had intended to play for Taring Club last night, but had to pull out at the last minute due to Sarah being taken ill. Many of you know her health problems over the last couple of years. She has today had an emergency operation on a twisted bowel that had also split, causing sepsis. She is in intensive care in a coma and on dialysis as she now has organ failure. The doctors are doing their best, but at this time they do not think she will survive. She suffered a cardiac arrest and died 3 times for a total of 10 minutes before they could operate.
