In the singles why do the number two players only get one game and all the other three get two games ?? I don't think so TJ, it is onlt the '1' of one side having a game and in another match the other teams '1' has a game. one singles, one doubles each match as I see it. what I hoped would happen is that if players 1 and 2 have played the 1 and 2 of the opposition in the doubles, i'd hope to play my singles match against a new face so that would be versus player 3 or 4. and so on and so forth. just some questions Chris; we played it last year so that we doubled in the three matches with each of our team partners, do you want to make that a rule or do you want us to choose our doubles set-up for each game? in the pairs can players offer advice....and seek it.... from their partner or from either of the other team members as the game is being played? if yes then also in the singles too? so I'm really looking forward to this, i'm not expecting anything from the wooden spooners of 2017, we shall bring the 'trophy' back! but we had a great day out last year and look forward to the same again! cheers Taffy

For once Taffy has been asking some sensible questions Although I am no longer part of the Suffolk BBA I will try to answer. The main thing Taffy has asked me he hasn't posted on here, but, to the best of my knowledge players need to be at the white horse for around 10am ready for a prompt 10-30 start. Dont forget you need to give your car reg number to a member of staff as soon as you get there if you park in the pubs car park As for offering advice, I dont think anyone will object if you advise your partner to try hitting a ball, in Suffolk we play friendly but if your partner isn't sure where to play a shot, I think putting your finger on a cushion as a guide of where to aim for or even saying go about an inch up from the 50 hole etc is a big step too far Anyway my main reason for posting on here. I will be working Saturday morning so wont be around early but I wanted to let you know that I will be pestering each and everyone of you for your lose change as we will be collecting for "the sick childrens trust". I'm not going to go in to great detail on here but I will say Gary and Ashley have a beautiful daughter and only a couple of weeks ago they found themselves in addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge as Poppy was very seriously ill. The sick childrens trust helped Ashley and Gary out tremendously and I know they have a collection tin on the bar, but I think it would be a great way of us showing our appreciation for them hosting the 4x4 if we could hold our own bar billiards collection and then present them with the money at the end of Saturday night. I know it may be ambitious but I also know you lot are a great bunch and it would be amazing if we could raise around one hundred pounds on the day. Hopefully during the day poppy will be around, she will melt your hearts and I think you will find it hard to believe only a few weeks ago she was laying in hospital in a coma. Thank you all in anticipation of your help. Good luck to all. See you all sometime Saturday and make sure you have plenty of change. Dave

Thanks for posting that Gandalf as I hadnt got a clue who won, I sorta remember watching Mal playing Alasdair in the final game and hearing mal had to win by around a thousand points.
I hope everyone enjoyed the day and incase people didn't hear, I ended up with over £220 in my bucket for the Sick Childrens Trust so a very big thank you to everyone

Yes final was 3 - 3 between the Worthing Wallies and Bay Horse A and won on average by Worthing, a great day with plenty of close games, thanks to those who organised and to the White Swan for hosting and laying on a bar billiards menu

Thanks to all for this, especially chris cass at the helm. Congratulations to Worthing, 3-3 must be their speciality! And dave I'm sure that I speak for everyone when i say thanks for collecting for such a worthy cause!
Newmarket had a great day out and Alfie and Ally excelled for us. Ally didn't lose a singles and Alfie only lost his singles to The Colminator so he and she were our star players. We came third if y'all didn't know so an improvement on the wooden spoon of last year! Tables were a lot more consistant this year too.
well done all round!
cheers
