We were given our fixture list last night and was extremely disappointed to see fixtures being put on the Thursday of the World Championships. Can someone please explain why? It was spoken about at either an AGM or committee meeting and agreed by everyone that this particular Thursday would always be a competition week. This is to ensure that no teams are hindered for players wanting to play in the biggest tournament in the bar billiards calendar. This is going to have an impact on at least 4 teams out of the 9 in the league ðŸ˜

We're going to play your "B" side on the Wednesday as far as I'm aware and HCC have got plenty of players to cover for Keith Hollis so it's only you isn't it?

Yes it is a problem to be honest. You already have one match being rearranged because if this. Apparently HCC have the bye, so they get lucky. Plus it's not just our team as at least 2 players from the Glads team are going to Jersey too, so that could be another 2 matches having to be rearranged.

Plus, If you remember, this all came about because of a team refusing to rearrange a match and the team affected by players being away almost had to forfeit the match and give them a 5-0 win because they couldn't field a team. They managed to get 2 players to sign on just to play that match. The "rule" was brought in to stop this happening again.

Maybe it is a problem then Mark but not sure there's an actual rule. I guess we could always move the games on the 8th to the 15th and have comps on the 8th but someone will need to liaise with Pete as he will have to sort with the teams.

Firstly I would like to know who is going to Jersey?.. I can swap 8th to the 15th if all teams agree.

Just checked entries..(this might change) Mark T Keith H Paul B Sean S JJ Kelly V Brown. If this stands then Vikings can play Oracle B on the Wed before which leaves Glad's v Oracle A (Can Steven play in Marks place?)

Glads have at least 2 players participating.
Don't worry about it, I'm tired of going through the same issues all the time in the oxford league. Pauline may have some recruiting to do for next season 😢

In Worthing we always make the Thursday a free night as most go over Thursday, and give the option of those who don't to arrange compensation games. Just a thought
