Need more info on exactly what happens (everything) when you put the coin in the table top. When you drop in coin it does not rest in its place which in turn does not let you pull bar It's then we have to lift top and manually have to lift cach to pull bar for game to commence . Hope this enough information

From what you are saying, the coin is successfully going through the slot on the top of the table, falling to the timer, landing in the coin chute but not falling into the coin slot on the pull handle.
That likely means one of two things
1) The coin is landing on the pull handle bar to the side of the slot.
or
2) the coin is jamming between the chute on the slot being trapped at one end.
1) is more likely if it has not been doing it before (not considering the new pound coin being bigger).
If 1) is the case you should be able to see that the chute is not central above the slot. bend both sides of the clock cover a little to try and move the chute back centrally over the slot. filing a slight chamfer either side of the top of the slot on the pull handle will also help the coin drop by removing the lip the coin can sit on.
My slight concern is your comment that you have to lift the latch, is that with the coin in the slot please? cos that's a different problem if so.

Cheers Alan,
So can you confirm whether the problem is
1) Coin is landing on the pull bar to the side of the slot
or
2) Coin wont go through the funnel on top of the timer even if it is lined up with the slot
or
3) The coin is in the slot on the pull bar but the latch is not lifting enough and jamming when the handle is pulled
Any chance of a picture or two?
Is the little non return dangly latch on the side of the pull bar, that engages the teeth as the bar handle is pulled, swinging freely?

We're not playing on table till next week but I believe Dave Tooke is playing on it , I will see if he can get some pictures for you . Thanks Alan .

See if you can bend the sides of the cover a little to force the chute across.
Chamfer off the edge of the slot on the side the coin is hitting to remove the ledge the coin is landing on.
If still not enough, take off the setscrews holding the chute and widen the securing holes a little in the direction the chute needs to move and re-attach, you may need to add thin washers.

just one other thing, some clock lids have a 1/2" straight shoot out of the bottom so the coin is literally dropped into the slot. others, the funnel stops on the lid so the coin is never actually straightened up. see which cover you have?
cheers

Makes no difference if the table top slot is the right size, the coin is pretty much lined up.
I use both designs on my tables.
Bigger problem is the one Alan has encountered where the chute does not line up with the slot in the bar, or the chute funnel is too big/small.
