Another disappointing night for Guernsey Barbilliards.
With the Island singles draw made a few weeks ago it was decided to play 3 singles matches at a new venue. Thanks to a couple of committee members we were able to secure a new venue this year. As you know moving these tables are not an easy job and we would also need to arrange to borrow a van to transport it. They do not even have a team, therefore the table was not being used much and we needed to let the land lord see the value in having a table.
People have no respect for efforts put in. I had to contact the Landlord, to arrange for his Pool team to move, so that the games would not be interrupted. I also left work early to ensure I could get the venue and level the table and ensure everything was in place.
So of the 3 games being played there only 1 took place. 1 was a conceded game due to an opponent being off the island. They let me know, so therefore no problem.
The other pairing did not even bother to turn up and when I spoke to one of them it was oh well who cares attitude.
As it was, 3 or 4 people showed some interest in the game and a couple even had a few shots while we were there. If people do not change their attitudes. The game will die.
