Singles - Matthew Knight and Joe Oakley Pairs - Matthew Knight and Joe Oakley
Norman I did ask Darren for BACS details via PM but haven't heard back. Obviously it is easier that way, but if not possible I will send a cheque. Perhaps you could ask him too please.

Hi All
The Guernsey Open is now full with some 3 months still to go. The limit is 72 singles and 32 pairs.
Last night we have agreed to extend the pairs to 40, this will mean that we will have to start this around 10am on the Saturday, if anyone sees a problem with this please message me.
For the singles we are looking into ways that will allow us to increase it to 80 entrants, however this is not guaranteed. So I have created a reserve list which already takes us to 79. we hope to have this confirmed later this week.
Many thanks
Darren

Good news, we have agreed to accept up to 80 entrants into the Singles this year.
This will mean a preliminary round will have to take place at 6.30pm on the Saturday evening. We do not see this being too much of a problem as most of you have all entered the pairs.
We will now make the draw earlier than expected with a provisional date as Monday the 4th March. We have one place available left to fill so please let me know asap if you are interested.
Thank you all for your support

Sorry but I don't want to play IKO on the Saturday after the pairs.
What if some of the top seeds get through to the final of the Pairs and then are expected to play a preliminary IKO game - I know some could but feel they may have not had time to refresh especially if they win.
I am not wanting top players or anyone to back me/or disagree at all it is totally only my individual thoughts. Not asking anyone to comment here
I come to Guernsey to play the pairs - an evening out - IKO sunday - an evening out - home Monday. Your event is fabulous and you run it brilliantly. Only event I do both.
Why change it ?? Especially as I entered according to your form and what you said on it re numbers and events on the Saturday and Sunday.
Sorry but if this goes ahead I will withdraw from the IKO personally, only because I would not wait to see the draw and then give someone a bye should I be drawn on the Saturday.
Happy to play 9.45am on the Sunday which could be used instead ???
Thanks Chris

HI Chrissy
We understand that it is not ideal, however we thought as we had so many people in so early we should try and accommodate everyone. We hope that it will have a minimal effect on final stages of the pairs. Hopefully you still wish to enter and give it a go for this year, and provide us with some feedback on its actual workings. The idea is that It will be 1 set of games which should take no more than 40 minutes allowing everyone still time to enjoy a meal out in Guernsey. Everyone will then re start again on the sunday in the main comp or the plate.
As we are also playing Jersey this year and not an International it is a good way to test the idea out without burning out too many top players.
We really appreciate the feedback, so keep it coming and we will take these on board.
Many Thanks
Darren

Thanks to the Guernsey Admin team on the day for a superbly run and relaxed tournament.. (plus of course all the others who helped in the table set-up) I'm missing the Cock and Bull (and Tupps) already! Anyone not at the Ship and Crown on Friday missed a sight with the Sussex players absolutely trashed and 4 times Champ needing clean shorts!
