The final week of the league season.
Results - April 23rd.
BLEP 5 - 1 LBSC. A result which confirms the BLEP as Section B champions and the LBSC finishing in the wooden spoon position.
Dolphin 4 - 2 Dew Drop. A low scoring game, Josh Williams winning his singles to confirm his position as top B section player. Rocky being the only singles winner for the visitors.
Swan B 4 - 2 Sea View. The home team needed to win this one to give them a good chance of retaining their title and they duly obliged. Nigel Senior, Joe Oakley and Marcus Chipman setting it up with victories in their singles. Stan responding for the visitors; the pairs games ending up all square.
Henty B 4 - 2 Swan A. Spare a thought for our inter league captain, Colin Green, he scored another blank, two weeks on the bounce, against opponents who played or nearly playing the table out. This time it was against TJ who racked up over 17k. Ian Lelliott was next best for the home side with over 12k.
Locomotive W 1 - 5 Henty A. A comfortable victory for the visitors, Seamus Prepens being the only winner for the home side. Father John Dynes and his offspring Declan along with Graham Lewis winning for the away side.
Prince of Wales 5 - 1 Locomotive A. A victory was required by the Prince to maintain their title challenge and they made no mistake, Martin Cole top scorer for them with near 10k, Dave Simmonds sole winner for the visitors.
Open Date: Alexandra.
So with the rearranged game to play on Thursday the Prince of Wales needed a victory at the Henty A to become champions; any another other result would see the Swan B retain their title. This rearranged game was a fitting tribute to the overall integrity of the league competition with both sides going all out to win. The singles games went with the breaks, Pete Western and John Dynes winning for the home team with Martin Cole and Barry Holt scoring highly for the Prince; two each apiece going into the doubles. The pairs matches were again high scoring games but surprisingly neither went with the break giving a final result of 3 - 3. A fair result given the way both teams played.
Henty A 3 - 3 Prince of Wales.

And finally... I would like to thank all the players who have taken part in this season's competiton and for their competitive spirit the games have been played, the team captain's for timely return of match results, the venue hosts for helping us stage the games and for their hospitality and to the other two members of the committee for their assistance in running the LBBL.
It has been a pleasure and thank you. Bill
