In case anyone is coming up via the A24, it will be closed between Dorking and Leatherhead all day due to the cycle race so find an alternative route

Well done to Matt Jones on winning the Bucks Open. Matt defeated Tony Webster in the final, who had a very good day, well done to him too. In the semi-finals, Matt had beaten Nigel Senior, Jonesy going off with 15k, Nigel missed early in his break game and conceded not long after. Tony defeated Phil Griffin in a very close match, but Phil can take great heart on his performance especially a very good 9k break on tricky table 3 for a comeback win in his quarter-final.
Back to the final (also on the tricky table 3) and Tony went first, he scored steadily as Matt struggled on the top to begin with, Tony ending the first leg with a 7k lead. Matt battled extremely hard to make 9k with his opening break, match really in the balance as Tony got the balls back twice more but couldn't seal what would have been his first open win. Speaking to Matt afterwards he was extremely relieved to have got over the line, finding himself as a pretty strong favourite in the final had been a new experience for him and made him unusually tentative.
In the plate final an all Sussex affair saw the fans in good voice with Bob Osborne beating the in form James Whittle, well done to both players on a good final. James built a 5k lead but Bob played well for the rest of the leg to take a lead into leg 2. He was off early with his break but try as he might James couldn't get the balls back and Bob kept in front giving Hastings more bragging rights in the plate!
A big thank you to Dawn and Chrissie for a well run day and thanks all those who helped set up and take down the tables. I think the air-con played havoc with some of the tables but it didn't affect table 1 as Keith Sheard set a big target with a 23k plus break but it was beaten with an outrageous 25k break from Mark Brewster, well done to him.
Hope everyone had a good day.

So another Bucks Open comes and goes - thank you to everyone who came yesterday, we hope you enjoyed it.
Thank all the staff at the Totteridge Community Centre for all your hard work.
Well done to our very own Matthew Jones for winning his first ever Bucks Open, Tony Webster for getting to his first ever final and to Nigel Senior and Phil Griffin the losing semi-finalists. Also congratulations to Bob Osborne on winning the plate and to James Whittle the losing finalist. The highest menβs break of 25,650 was won by Mark Brewster (just amazing), and the ladies break of 3,960 was won by Michelle (thank you Kevin for confirming :).
Lastly, thank you to everyone from Wycombe who helped unload/load the tables, Ernie & Matt for setting them up, Dave for the usual delivery/collection, Doug for all your help, the table sponsors, Sue & Jeff for selling raffle tickets, all the people who donated prizes (especially Syl Murphy - everyone loves the helicopters), Pauline & Jean for folding the tickets, Nigel for doing the format AGAIN, Jean for your sheets, the people who scored through the day, and to everyone who helped us take the tables down on Sunday evening (especially Alan) and lastly to Chris, as always we thank you so much for what you do every year, and same time same place next year please x
PLEASE NOTE THAT NEXT YEARS OPEN WILL BE SUNDAY 9TH AUGUST
See you all soon Dawn
