Well, WH Milton nearly had a very embarrassing evening last night but salvaged a 2-3 loss.
Draw was: Theresa vs Paul Ginge vs Steve Alan (c) vs Lee (c) Derek vs Barry Bill vs Robert
The highlight of the match was Captain vs Captain, game 3. Lee messed the break up and let Alan in. Alan built a lead of around 1200 and filled the back of the table. One impressive shot from Lee cleared 4 balls and opened up 2 problem balls. A break of over 2000 put Lee back in the drivers seat and the game finished 2790 vs 2260 with Lee claiming the game.
Carps bounced back with a 5-0 whitewash in their first home game of the season. Leaving the table as follows.
Carps 7 (played 2) Milton 5 (played 2) Bottisham 4 (played 1) Swavesey B 3 (played 1) Swavesey A 1 (played 2)
Next week sees to derbies with WH Miltom having a week off. Carps vs Bottisham Swavesey A vs B

Game week 3 saw The Carps (playing put of Bottisham) suffer a crushing defeat to Bottisham CSSC
Losing their venue may really cost the Carps this season as they squandered some home advantage against title rivals Bottisham
Bottisham won the game 4-1 and it sounds likely it was close to a Whitewash.
How the Swavesesy Derby went I am yet to discover.
Div 1 Table: Bottisham 8 (played 2) Carps 8 (played 3) Milton 5 (played 2)

A Bottisham Whitewash win vs Swavesey B has pressed them high up in their title challenge and they've gain a bit of breathing space at the top of the table. Man of the Match must go to Captain, Jim Wilson. Scoring 3320 vs the break in his 1st game and in game 5 he secured the whitewash with a 5430-380 win. Top score of the season so far I believe.
Carps, had the week off which left White Horse Milton vs Swavesesy A (at Swavesey)
Alan** vs Paul 920-1100 Jerry vs Paul ** 800-1750 Ray vs Lee ** 1270-2380 Alan** vs Robert 1010-840 (last ball game) Mike vs Steve ** 760-1630
Div 1 Table after 4 weeks of the season. Bottisham 13 Milton 9 Carps 8 (All played 3)
Next week sees WH Milton taken on Bottisham, with Lee Mason and Jim Wilson who play pool together go head to head in this exciting fixture. Who will get the better of the other?
Meanwhile Carps host Swavesey A who will be looking to get their season going after a slow start.

Well well well. What a close start the season we have. After 4 games the Division 1 table is as follows: Bottisham CSSC 15 (played 4) WH Milton 12 (played 4) Carpenters Arms 11 (played 4)
WH Milton capped of their 2nd match against a Div 1 side last with another 3-2 win (it could have been 5-0!)
Highlights of the evening involved Bottisham Captain Jim Wilson, unfortunately for Jim neither involved him winning a game.
Game 1 was Lee (me) vs Jim with me breaking. Solid game from me despite a lot of frustration around not killing the game of sooner 4030-820 By the time we reached game 5 it was 2-2 with Barry vs Jim, Jim to break. Jim built a nice lead but an impressive comeback from Barry gave him the game 3900-2980
Carps were held to a 3-2 win at Home to Swavesey B, a game they need to be winning 4-1/5-0 if they want to retain their Winter League Title.
On a personal note, I finish with 4 wins out of 4 after the first quarter and have go the top score in 3 out of the 4 matches so far.
Big game next week with Carps vs WH Milton, the losers of that game will be drifting off in the title challenge with normal slow starters Bottisham already pulling away.

Game of the Season Alert.
Last Night saw WH Milton venture away at the Carps who have lost their home venue and are adjusting to life at Bottisham. Milton, although a DIV 1 team are introducing a new player so games like this would always be difficult.
The draw, neither Captain was happy.
Andy (C)** vs Lee (C) Ian D vs Barry ** Ray vs Steve ** Andy (C)** vs Robert Ray vs Paul**
Highlight of the night was always going to be game 1, me vs Andy. But it turned into a candidate for game of the season and it is the best game I've witnessed and had the pleasure to be a part of in 3 years of playing. Andy broke off and got 3500 (using up over half the playing time) I returned 750 Then we had a scrappy 5 minutes. With about 3 and a half minutes left the deficit was 3100. I played the bar out and played it our fast, 3600 break. Fair play to Andy who played a good game and has taught me a lot. Discussions around the room were that I was the only person in the league who even had a slim chance to catch him and even then it was slim. Andy 3890 vs Lee 4360
Remainder of the night was some close games ending 4-1 to Milton. Andy himself in his 2nd game getting the high score of the might 4430 (after tucking up to give the new player a chance on 5+ occasions) Carps 1 WH Milton 4
Bottisham beat up Swavesey A with a 4-1 away win Leaving the table Bottisham 19 WH Milton 16 Carps 12 Swavesey B 9 (game in hand) Swavesey A 4.
Draws for the Winter League Singles and Pairs were completed last night. Info to follow.

Well it was Bot 19 Milton 16 Carps 12 but two weeks changes things!
18th Nov WH Milton vs Swavesey B. Tough game with Milton introducing a new player this season as well as having to give away all breaks to the Div 2 team. Swavesey conquered Milton with a 3-2 win, Milton's 2nd loss of the season to Swavesey B, unbeaten against the rest. Highlight of the night was a score against the break for me. 6040. Highest score of the season so far in the league.
Carps were away to Swavesey A. Horrific table conditions meant Carps got frustrated and lost 5-0. Shows how poor the table was and both Carps and Bottisham have complained about the table standard this season since the table was moved. Meanwhile this leaves them 6 adrift of Bot
25th Nov With Carps 6 points adrift and Bottisham having a game in hand the biggest fixture you could have would be Carps away to Bottisham, that's what we got.
I went to watch the end of this match as WH Milton had a BYE. Carps won 4-1 with some impressive comebacks and some run away wins. Ian just missing out on eclipsing the seasons high score by scoring 5970. Well done to Ray who came back from 2400 behind with a cracking break of 3200.
Div 1 Table Bottisham 20 played 6 WH Milton 18 played 6 Carpenters 16 played 7
Depending on how the Swavesey Derby went then Swavesey A could be hot on the Carps tails as they were on 11 before playing last night.
Bottisham remain clear favourites for the league this season but going into Christmas WH Milton could be top of the league at Christmas for the 1st time ever. A decisive game 9th December will determine who is top on Chritmas day.
Next weeks fixtures: WH Milton vs Swavesey A Swavesey B vs Bottisham Carpenters vs BYE

Well WH Milton laid down the challenge in the "who can finish top at Christmas " challenge. It's never been Milton before....
WH Milton hosted Division 2 side WH Swavesey A. Meaning they gave all breaks to the away team. Lee and Paul both had an unbeaten record to maintain and they managed to do it
Paul vs Will 1960-760 Robert vs Jerry 840-1590 Lee vs Jerry 3690-590 Steve vs Ray 1680-1100 Barry vs Alan 3670-2640
On paper Lee vs Jerry was set to be the highlight especially with Jerry having one game to warm up. However a shaky start from Jerry and an early 1860 break from me really killed the game off. Highlight was Barry vs Alan. Alan built up a very nice lead off over 2000. Barry fought back with a break of 1250 and then a scrappy few minutes followed with Barry taking the lead and never looking back. A 750 lead when the bar went was enough to kill the game.
Meanwhile, the Carps had a week off and Bottisham travelled to Swavesey who's table remains rubbish...the clock was only 14.5 mins and no high scores reported.
However another Bottisham 4-1 win means the table is as follows for Div 1.
Bottisham 24 (played 7) WH Milton 22 (played 7) Carpenters 16 (played 7)
With Bottisham vs Milton next week being a tasty figure its chance for Carps to close the cap heading into the mid season Christmas break.

League Update. Not updated for a few weeks and we are now entering the final quarter.
League Table Current
1st WH Milton (Played 12) 36 2nd Bottisham (Played 11) 35 3rd Carpenters (Played 11) 28 4th Swavesey B (Played 11) 21 5th Swavesey A (Played 11) 20
Last week saw WH Milton host Bottisham in a then 2nd vs 1st clash.
Bottisham had whitewashed Milton earlier in the season with Captain Lee Mason suffering his whitewash after 33 game as Captain.
The draw looked strong for Milton: Paul** vs Malcolm Lee vs Roger ** Lee vs Andy ** Barry** vs Jim Steve vs Jim **
After game 1, Paul scoring over 4500+ (recording his highest score of the season) you'd think this would be the highlight of the evening.
Game 2 so Captain Lee against the break and behind. An impressive comeback set up a big game 3 with Milton already 2-0
Lee vs Andy was a repeat of last season singles final, Andy breaking. 750 scored off the break then Lee was on fire. Racking up 7490, his PB (and vs the break).
Jim knicked the last game which was anyone game with 5 minutes to go.
WH Milton now top the league going into the final quarter for the first time in their team's history. Bottisham with a game in hand are still big favourites though.
AGM next week so no league games. AGM at White Horse Milton Monday 10th, 8:30pm
