Might I enquire of AEBBA as to whom the 'Independent Verifier' of the accounts will be at the AGM please?

In the apparent absence of a duly appointed Independent Verifier the accounts cannot be attested to as being a true statement.
I have offered my services to AEBBASec on Monday as an emergency measure due to my knowledge of the accounts as a former Treasurer and living in the same County as the current treasurer. Lorin has acknowledged that offer but has no recollection of anyone being appointed as Independent Verifier.
Should there not be an Independent Verifier to report at the AGM then the accounts must not be accepted at the AGM on Sunday.

Hi all,
Chris is absolutely right in his statement above. I had also mentioned in my exchange with him that, in the event that all could not be completed ahead of this Sunday's meeting - and it is desirable to allow adequate time for detailed independent verification, we shall call an EGM to present the accounts and set out the financial position of the association.
I can confirm that this will now be the case as it has not been possible to fully prepare and independently verify a completed set of accounts ahead of this AGM which, whilst inconvenient, is not a cause for concern. As such a separate EGM will be called for the sole purpose of setting out a comprehensive financial position and approving the Financial Year 2018/19 accounts.
It is expected that this EGM shall take place no later than 22nd December 2019.
I am happy to answer any questions or concerns that you may have in this regard.
Many thanks,
Lorin

Thank you Lorin for taking the perfectly correct action.
I do find it very disappointing that detailed accounts are apparently not in a position to be presented a full three months after the close of the financial year.
It is a matter particularly close to my heart after being asked to investigate Bournemouth and the accounts thereof six years ago following the previous year's accounts being rejected at that AGM.

Thanks Chris. I am fully aware that you have perhaps more than a passing interest given the effort you have put into ensuring the financial well-being of the association in the past. I would urge you to bear with us for only a few weeks as full accounts will of course be disclosed at the EGM. I would not be so bold as to preempt any approval or otherwise from the affiliates of the association - experience tells me that that would be unwise - but I am confident that there should be no need to reject them this year.

Will the emg meeting still be taking place this Sunday or before??? I would really like to have sight of the accounts and the minutes of the last AGM before I can make any recommendations to the suffolk contingent as to our way forward.

I would really like to have sight of the accounts and the minutes of the last AGM before I can make any recommendations to the suffolk contingent as to our way forward. I understand that the accounts were expected to be independently verified this week or next and as such, the EGM to present them for approval will now take place on Sunday 5th January. The minutes from the meeting will be posted on the website sooner than that.

Thanks Lorin.
I'll thus assume that AEBBA will not be availing itself of my offer to verify the accounts?
I hope to have sight of the accounts and Treasurer's Report sufficiently in advance of the E.G.M. to take a look before the meeting. Who will be making the verification report please?
Where or how will the E.G.M. be held please?

When does your financial year end? It does seem strange to us that the date for the agm is set basically a year in advance but come the day of the agm no accounts are available. .,

Hi Dave
I need to be fair to the AEBBA Committee.
I asked for the change due to Bournemouth, which became totally confusing re accounts, Bournemouth was only half way through when the accounts were usually published in December.
They are now published with the AGM, but the accounting year is September 1st to August 31st.
So this years accounts to be published at the AGM are from 1st September 2018 to 31st August 2019. As Lorin said these will be available from the 22nd December I believe so that is tomorrow.
Thanks Chris

Where or how will the E.G.M. be held please? Chris, My understanding is that Paul Sainsbury has been asked to verify them but you may wish to contact Gerry directly for certainty on this point. When I spoke to Gerry a few days ago, I highlighted the importance of providing a copy in advance prior to the EGM. They will be posted on the website for universal access and can be forwarded to you if you'd prefer. Again, I do not anticipate any particular changes compared to how you and Chrissie prepared them so all should meet your expectation. As per the EGM in 2018(?), it will be held via a conference/video call and the numbers and access instructions will be published in due course. Lorin

Hi all,
I have just been advised that Gerry needs to delay the EGM slightly. A new date will be posted here very soon.
Apologies for any inconvenience.

Lorin As January draws to a close is there any news on when the accounts for the financial year that ended August last year will be available for all to see?
