Bye to the last 32!😲 Is that a ranking point? :D Can anyone confirm if this is the case? 😆 Hi I think you get a ranking point if you win a game and also for points scored. You would normally get Grand Prix points from last 16 but as there isn’t a Grand Prix this year I guess no need for the points Happy to be corrected ?? Curt

The quest for ranking points came to an end thanks to the slightest tickle on the black pin needing 130 to win 😢

The quest for ranking points came to an end thanks to the slightest tickle on the black pin needing 130 to win 😢 Ooh interesting ! I forgot this was on ....... (unlucky b.t.w.)
So, from what I have been able to pick up from the (excellent) Northants website, it went something like this:
Last 16 Mark Trafford bt Lorin Clough 35100-3600 Kevin Tunstall bt David Ingram 12610-7970 Mark Brewster bt Tony Jenner 23900-7990 Jason Neal bt Richard Hawes 15620-3370 Gerry Fitzjohn bt Mark James 12590-9220 Simon Coleman bt Phil Griffin 23490-0 Nigel Senior bt Curt Driver 12990-10020 Joe Elleson bt Phil Osborne 10090-9050
Quarter-finals Kevin Tunstall bt Mark Trafford 18510-9690
Jason Neal bt Mark Brewster 18740-4690
Gerry Fitzjohn bt Simon Coleman 13250-3590
Nigel Senior bt Joe Elleson 23660-7200
Semis Jason Neal bt K.T 16360-4290
Nigel Senior bt Fitz 17550-9380
Final
Jason v Nigel ............ result ?
(PLATE) Semis
Stu Carruthers bt Chelle Baden Matt Knight bt Sid Ponting
Final Stu v Matt ...........result ?
Sounds like a good day with some of the results close: hope to hear some accounts of it soon.

Well done to Nigel on winning the Northants Open and well done too to Jason on his attempts to defend the crown. He did not let his title go without a huge fight. However in the final Nigel was on very good form and just too strong Well done to Stuart Carruthers beating Matt Knight in the Plate to win his first such title, he was a worthy winner playing better than me on a very good top Thank you to the Cock Inn for being very good hosts as always A massive thank you to everyone involved in running and organising the day, including those that set-up the tables - 6 completely different style of table but all very playable. Special thanks to Simon and Stephen Coleman for all their hard work - it was very much appreciated It was good to see everyone again, plenty of banter, some people were forced to put up with two years worth in one day

Thanks to everyone who attended. Hope you all had a great day and weekend if you joined us for the Sunday also.
It was great to see everyone again after such a long time, and nice to feel like a bit of normality has resumed.
So the final was a repeat of the day previous with Jase looking to try and be the first player ever to retain the Northants open, Nigel looking for redemption and to add his name for the first time.
The game was close throughout with both players having chances. Nigel was around 12k up in the first (I think if my memory serves me correct) a target Jase is capable of chasing.
It was however to be Nigel’s day so congratulations to Nigel on his first Northants Open title.
Again thanks to everyone who made it a special day and hopefully the start of more billiards events and opens.

Have to say I am chuffed (and a bit surprised) to win my first Northants Open....
Hard luck to Jason who was looking to retain his title from 2019, but at least we got to share the honours over the weekend after your win in the 4 pin.
Without wanting to get into a debate about rules the 3 main ones worked where you had to the one up after 3 break shots, 100 or 200 at the end and black peg only counting last shot. It made for a good competition on the wider tables. Even 4timeschamp enjoyed it....
Speaking of Jim, thanks to him for being sporting as I was 10 minutes late to our opening game on the Sunday, thanks to Michelle for trying to calm me down with the taxi driver going the wrong way after being 20 minutes late (its normally to other way round) and thanks to Matt Knight for leading the round of applause when I got to the venue (which I predicted in the cab).
Most of all thanks to the Northants boys for all the hard work to put the event on. They did a great job with everything from the tables, the venue and making us all feel at ease with the attention to spacing etc given the current situation. It was great to see people again in person after a long 18 months.
Hopefully we can now look forward to some more events in September, leagues starting across the country and then Bournemouth and Jersey on the horizon.....

I’d like to echo Stephen’s post with a big thankyou to everyone who came along to the open.
Big congratulations to Nigel for winning the trophy. Deserved winner.
Also a special thankyou to Martin Cole and Lorin Clough who helped with taking down and packing all the tables away.
