Did a bit of delving yesterday, and this is what I was told on very good authority. - The new table is of modern construction, seems to be a bespoke build. First impressions are that it is a Supreme, with an electric timer and the slot which is too near the tray and takes the skin off your knuckles. However it plays well and has a solid slate which stays down in position if you lift the sides up !!
- The new Landlord (a Mexican called Oscar) is very keen to make the bar billiards a success. The table has taken much revenue in the first few months (due to its novelty value) and a competition with prize money has already been staged, with Sammy Jones the winner.
So, with the K & B Open Doubles taking place once again this summer, I will keep this in mind as a possiblity for the Final - especially if I can persuade our sponsors that a repeat of the beer and cheese tasting would be a good idea.....

Funny how one man's meat can be another man's poison.
My message has prompted this part-message from another source: Methinks a trip to Horsham one Thursday lunchtime is called for.
At the same time I shall check out the new pub recently opened a few doors away (The Red Deer).

Popped in lunchtime. Jury's out as to suitability for our K & B Final.
Pub decor very tasteful, comfortable armchairs. Table looks to be a standard Supreme, we were loath to pay the £2 for a game after being charged £4-38 for a half of cider and half of lemonade. Board outside displays next house b-b competition which is coming up at the end of the month (24th). Barman James was pleasant enough, interested in the sketchy details I gave about Horsham's summer cup ....
Investigated new pub/restaurant The Red Deer next door: Standard menu very pricey but they're doing a deal at the moment £12-50 for two courses plus a side.
