There have been recent developments regarding the Stout House which is now a non-league venue after the landlord Barry's retirement. The table was removed before the start of the new season but there is now one back in there.
Did a bit of delving yesterday, and this is what I was told on very good authority.
The new table is of modern construction, seems to be a bespoke build. First impressions are that it is a Supreme, with an electric timer and the slot which is too near the tray and takes the skin off your knuckles. However it plays well and has a solid slate which stays down in position if you lift the sides up !!
The new Landlord (a Mexican called Oscar) is very keen to make the bar billiards a success. The table has taken much revenue in the first few months (due to its novelty value) and a competition with prize money has already been staged, with Sammy Jones the winner.
So, with the K & B Open Doubles taking place once again this summer, I will keep this in mind as a possiblity for the Final - especially if I can persuade our sponsors that a repeat of the beer and cheese tasting would be a good idea.....
