Hello everyone, We shall soon all be arriving in Bournemouth for what promises to be one of the most enjoyable weekends of our year. That said, the outbreak of Covid-19 creates concern for all of us and whilst we do not intend to worry anyone or blow things up out of all proportion, we want to ensure that everyone follows current guidance on some of the ways in which you can minimise risk. Aside from the obvious, the best effort we can make to safeguard our collective health is to follow the simple advice on handwashing and using a tissue .... “Catch it”, “Kill it”, “Bin it” We are fortunate to be part of a community that knows each other well - so please do not feel offended if a player opts not to shake hands prior to or after a match - they may prefer an elbow bump or something else. This is perfectly reasonable and will not in any way be considered as non-sporting. Updated information can be found on the following sites: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/www.gov.uk/government/collections/coronavirus-covid-19-list-of-guidance Best wishes, Lorin

Well said Lorin.
The elbow bump has started to be quite widely used now in Mid Sussex and Horsham. Just a small thing which may help us avoid spreading infection.

Just a question as I’m as confused as a lot of people as to how it spreads.
Is there a difference between a handshake or following your opponent and probably putting your hand on the same place on the table as they had theirs ?
Just crossed my mind and don’t know the answer.

Only if you touch your face directly after without washing them or using sanitizer.

It's probably a good idea to keep our tables as hygienic as possible …… I regular brush ours to remove the chalk residue on the cloth. But the part where the dirt builds up is the leatherette: I cleaned ours with anti-bacterial spray a fortnight ago after Graham commented.

Balls ? Exactly, the world is going mad! I was taught to wash my hands after a rest break by the age of 3 and mastered it quite well since.

This was Neville Southall's (former Everton goalkeeper) outlook on it: “Just give them gloves – as a lot of people say I caught f*** all when I wore mine.”

Using hand sanitiser on the chalk is going to make a soggy mess every game

These look like they'll do the job:
and good value at £1-78 per pack of 100.
