Evening all,
I shall be releasing the entry forms for the 2020 tournament in the coming weeks therefore please keep an eye on here and our website (which is being updated by myself over the next few weeks) for further information.

Good evening all,
I hope everyone is keeping safe and well & maintaining their social distancing in these times that we live.
As mentioned above, I was going to be releasing the entry forms but with COVID-19 circulating, the World Championships organising committee have decided to delay the release of these until later in the year to see how the pandemic develops. We appreciate players may have already booked flights/hotels, whereby you will personally need to make a decision, however, we ask that you try and hold off on this decision until July, when we shall be making a further update on whether the tournament will be progressing. One thing to add, should we proceed, we guarantee all players who have contacted us will be entered into the tournament but for now, lets see how the world evolves.
Stay safe and well and fingers crossed, we see you all in November.
Sean

I see that in today's announcement, Jersey is one of the places we can travel to without having to isolate. Interesting that Guernsey is not, considering they have opened up the island fully to residents. Hoping this will be good news for our annual trip in November?

Fingers crossed.
Must admit though the list confused me. My daughters in Cyprus and although this is on the list I could come back ok without self isolating but travelling there i would have to isolate for 14 days! I assume the list is for arrivals to the Uk . Are there any rules about arriving in Jersey from the UK?

I assume the list is for arrivals to the Uk . Are there any rules about arriving in Jersey from the UK? Hello Jean, you may have seen the answer to this on another thread. The rules could change closer to the date of the Open if indeed it does go ahead. I would rather see an official statement from the J.B.B.L. which I am sure will come when news about the Open gets published as promised in July. All I can tell you is the current information as it stands. People travelling into Jersey by sea or air travel will have to make a decision at port of entry. Either to take a test for Covid-19 or self isolate for 14 days upon arrival There was an interesting Editorial in the Guernsey Press recently which contained a useful statement which I will share with you all and I quote '' Tourists also have to consider the possibility of testing positive for Covid-19. They may plan a week's stay but then end up self-isolating for 14 days. Will insurance cover the hotel bills ? The number of tourists willing to undergo such checks will be key to the system's success. As will the number of Jersey residents who will opt to travel to one of the 59 countries and 14 overseas territories on England's quarantine-free list rather than spend their money in Jersey ''

Hello to you all,
On behalf of Sean, myself, and the rest of the Jersey few, I trust that you and your families have remained well throughout our forced isolation and that life may begin to return to normal - whatever that may be in the future.
As you may be aware the authorities have decided to open our boarders, hotels are beginning to open their doors and you can even get a drink without a meal! We are still some 4 months away from the Open and a lot could happen/change between now and then, therefore we are asking for you to let us know if you would be likely to travel to Jersey this November. This is just a straw poll and saying Yes or NO now does not mean that you cannot change your mind?
The Hotel has been in touch informing us that they will be shutting their doors on the 1st November, but do not panic (and please do not try to book yet!) they will stay open for us exclusively i.e. no other guests. Details are still to be discussed but they have said that there will be a discount from last year's rates - no idea how much yet. Travel is still restricted but I am sure that this will open-up over the next few weeks providing we do not have an influx of Covid-19 cases.
I am not usually a frequent visitor to Proboards but I shall ensure that I log on at least every other day for the next 3 weeks as that is when we need to get back to The Merton. You can post your response by private message to either Sean or myself or use the email's below, if you are planning to attend, please let us know if you would be staying at the Merton. We ask that you pass this message on to those around you, and either respond on their behalf, or ask them to get in touch.
Stay safe and we hope that we can celebrate our 40th anniversary later this year.
Cheers Sean and Graeme
