Just to confirm if it doesn't take place because the (Ltd numbers rule does not get lifted) are the hotels willing to refund? The Merton will not be taking payment until October time and by then we also shall have a clearer picture of the expected scenario. With regards to the Mayfair, unfortunately, as they are not connected to our tournament directly it would be up to that hotel and it is therefore out of our hands. As a general update, the Jersey government are deciding in early August whether to move to 'Level 1', which removes that '40 external person' limit. Just wondering before I book anything if the 40 external person limit got lifted as hoped?

Locals will, no doubt, know more but:
still shows 40 limit and covid test needed on or immediately before arrival.

I'm going to leave it to the J.B.B.L. to release any relevant information as and when it becomes available. After holding 39 consecutive very well run Opens I am sure they are on the case.

Just a suggestion. Would it be worth issuing the entry forms straight away? You will then get an idea on numbers and it may be useful for people still to book. You can still delay collecting fees until we have more certainty that the competition will go ahead. You could even ask who is not staying at the Merton in case the 40 person restriction still applies.

Hi Guys, i`m thinking right now with the guidelines in Guernsey that this year for me is not going to happen now,i won`t be able to afford to come over for a weekend and then have to self isolate when i get back home. I can`t speak out for all the Guernsey lads but feel they are much on the same thoughts as me. If it goes ahead i do wish you every success with the weekend, its going to be a real shame to miss out..... champs

Then ok to work, followed by another test in 7 days from then. That is what everybody is expecting.

Hi all. I hope everyone wherever you are in the bar billiards world are safe and sound.
I was looking on the internet recently and came across an article on Jerseys new covid travel details. As of today they have a traffic light system implemented on requirements on entry to the island which can be found on gov.je .The uk is split down to regions each having a green, amber or red rating with green having the most relaxed travel restrictions. All people have to undergo a covid test on arrival and test negative. People have to declare their travel movements of thee 14 days prior to travel. Most areas in england are green but some are amber which it looks like affects Northants. As far as I can see at present amber regions are required to take 2 tests and self isolate for 5 days. Let's hope things get relaxed soon.

Good day to you all,
It is with much sadness that I have to inform you all the as Tournament Directors, Sean and myself have made the decision to cancel the 2020 World Championship - please spread the word on our behalf.
With more cases being recorded and the UK being split into areas of Green, Amber and Red travel restrictions are being tightened. Depending on your region this could mean 5 days (or more) of isolation in your hotel room, plus any isolation enforced on you when you return home this clearly would not work. Our Government is updating their policies on a regular basis and we have to ensure that we keep in line with them.
We have been in contact with the Merton Hotel and refunds will be made if you have already paid.
For your diaries the 2021 championship will be held over the weekend of the 5th / 7th November should this pandemic be over by then. Note this is not Remberance weekend (14th) as this has already been booked by others.
Please stay safe in these uncertain times and we thank you all for your support and patience.
Graeme and Sean

Sad news, but not unexpected. Are there any plans to put tables in Jersey pubs or hotels that are still remaining open ? Testing is still going ahead at ports and airports. Borders are not yet closed. Some people may wish to keep their flights and still have a short holiday in Jersey with or without bar billiards.

Hi all As many bar billiards mates and friends have said a sad time that Jerseys 40th tournament has had to be cancelled. I am sad but not surprised and with restrictions that come into law next mon it will be some time before any team games can take place. Many thanks go to Sean and Graeme for trying all they could to enable the tournament to take place .Stay safe all.

Has anyone tried to get a refund from BA and the Mayfair yet?
Although I know they don't have to refund our money as Jersey is still open for business and now I see they are testing everyone who comes onto the Island.

Has anyone tried to get a refund from BA and the Mayfair yet? Although I know they don't have to refund our money as Jersey is still open for business and now I see they are testing everyone who comes onto the Island. They has been testing for some time, instead of the mandatory 14 days isolation rule was scrapped in Jersey. Many people i know arriving in Jersey have had test results back in less than 24 hours and can move freely around their hotels/homes until results have come back. It is the ban on gatherings of more than 40 people law that has finished off just about everything in Jersey for the rest of the year. They even cancelled the Battle of Britain Air display, yet Guernsey's took place today. The Red Arrows stole the show again as usual. Currently, Guernsey who have taken a different approach, have no such restrictions and if you see someone wearing a mask you think they are about to rob a bank. Visitors and locals arriving into Guernsey by sea or air do have to take a test and isolate for seven days and can move around freely after that if the result is negative. We hope to bring that down to three days in the coming months. We have only had one positive covid-19 case in 130 days. I know which Island I would rather be in, although visiting family in UK is difficult if you have to factor in the isolation upon return. For up to date Jersey regulations go to; www.gov.je/Health/Coronavirus/Travel/Pages/index.aspxStay safe everybody peeps.
