Apart from Alan from Oxford, have many other bar billiard players been affected healthwise by COVID19, either directly or indirectly?
We seem to be quite lucky ATM.

Very quiet at this end of Kent I am pleased to say. I have not heard of a single person in any of the local associations I belong to who have come down with it.
Comms are far better than bar billiards in Classic motorcycling and there have been a couple of deaths 'up county' sad, but fortunate for me not close friends.
Hoping to get out for the first time in eight weeks in the next couple of days if the weather is good for biking 'exercise' but am going nowhere near anyone else away from home for the foreseeable future.

All quiet in north of Sussex and east Surrey at the mo'. Our Wed team all fall in the 'highest risk' category, some are in enforced 12-week lockdown so wouldn't be able to play again till July (if they wanted to).
This Forum is the only serving reminder that bar billiards once existed: apart from that our links to the outside world are dog-walkers (all charming people) and neighbours with whom we now exchange kindnesses.

I can confirm that 100% of the Cornish League are COVID free, still under the doc for shortness of breath but that's been going on since well before the pandemic. Business wise we are still officially open (Gov says we could be needed for cat duties if any cat owners become hospital bound) but the lockdown has meant we've had no customers at all since the beginning of March, we have however had cancellations totalling over £10k, Boris has been good to us so far but we wait to see what happens, not sure that the public's confidence in travel abroard will return very quickly even when they are allowed, so we've had a long enforced (by lack of custom) break, celebrated our silver wedding anniversary by going for a ½ mile walk up the lane & back and a bottle of champers in the garden, not what we'd have planned but it was a lovely Aprils day and we enjoyed it.
Keep well everyone

Pleased that the Cornish League has not been affected....

Congratulations on your Silver Wedding. Bernie
Hadn't realised the full implications of the lack of foreign holidaygoers.
It is strange here living next to the airport and not seeing planes taking off one per minute. I do however look forward to when the situation recovers.
Our local garden centre (that you know as Cheals) has re-opened today.........might visit this avo for some bedding plants.
Stay safe, Clive and Margo

Some of you may remember my Dad, John Lawman who played in Northants for many years. He also represented Northants B on the County scene. Sadly my Dad passed away from COVID at the end of April. One horrible disease and not a nice way to go at all. Sadly missed.

Tier 3 for us and no pubs, East Kent is not good news with some of the highest rates in the country near us

Tier 2 here in Crawley. This means the Windmill will be staying shut till 2021 as it doesn't serve food. Now fearful for its future especially as its a Greene King pub. Still have a meal out planned with the family (bubble of 6) but unable to book yet while in full lockdown.
Remote possibility I may be able to take in a football match. This depends on: a) AFC Wimbledon beating Barrow away tonight; b) Crawley managing a draw on Saturday at Plough Lane and earning a replay; c) Me being able to blag a ticket by masquerading as a Crawley Town supporter (2000 allowed in, but no away fans)

a) Phew ! 0-0 after full time and extra time (120 mins played.) Through 4-2 on penalties ........... Roll on Saturday !

Sunday, not Saturday. I see our youngster Ryan Longman is doing well for you. Thank you Dave. Ryan only came on as a sub in the 90th minute, but when it came to the penalties he took our first one after Barrow had missed. A lot of pressure on him but we were sitting pretty after Barrow missed the second straight away. Tough on them as they are in League Two and had enjoyed 60% possession over the match. Tottenham for the Premiership, btw - as the season ends in a '1'.

Hi Clive Pedant alert!! It's the Premier League, not the Premiership. Two times First Division winners, but they haven't got Bill Nicholson to help them now, either as player or manager. 1961 was a very long time ago

Hi Dave, 1961 was indeed a long time ago, but I remember having a discussion with another Geography teacher: Mr Hanratty (= a Geordie and avid supporter of Newcastle United.) He told me in no uncertain terms that the "Double" could not be done, impossible. I followed Spurs in those days as my home town team (The 'Dons) didn't enter the Football League until 1977. Can still recite the Double-winning team by heart: Brown,Baker,Henry,Blanchflower,Norman,Mackay,Jones,White,Smith,Allen,Dyson. Good, honest football in those days !

Wombles 1, Red devils 2. Oh well, it had to be decided on the day anyway. At least I got to see a game at our impressive new stadium - even if it was only on TV ....

Guess no beer for a while longer

Depressing announcements today, Kent goes into the new tier 4 (lockdown effectively) so stuck indoors once again, Dover has some of the highest rates of infection in the country with the new strain rumoured to be here.
Still we have the vaccine to look forward to so 2021 should be better. Will it be in time for the early nationals at Bournemouth and Sudbury .

Hi all Couldn't agree more with your comments Chris. Here in Horsham still tier 2 but so close to Surrey a couple of miles up the road tier 4 trying to be really careful. At home now just Christmas day of freedom as such. Grandchildren so upset but feel for tier 4 areas cant go anywhere. Let's all keep fingers crossed for next year 🤞🍺😁
