HDBBL Members - AGM Postponed until 11th August 2020
Due to the extraordinary current situation we cannot abide by Rule 7 of our Rules of Management saying that “The AGM shall be held on the most convenient Tuesday as soon as possible after Finals Night”, and it is hard to predict what will happen with regards to the status of the Pandemic, as it might dwindle away, or have a resurgence, or just rumble along for years without an effective vaccine, and therefore it is unknown what restrictions there may be in the long or short term, we have decided to hold the AGM on the 11th August 2020 (it was due 16th June). We may need to consider changes to our Rules, whether temporary or permanent, in preparation for the next Season, as we need to do everything possible to keep the HDBBL functioning.
This may be a normal ‘physical’ AGM, or a ‘virtual’ AGM (possibly Zoom), or by documents issued in advance and votes received by eMail, and you will be informed of this in due course, but please forward any ‘Rule Change Proposals’ to Ian Giffen by Tuesday 21st July 2020, at the very latest.
As far as the current season is concerned, we can do nothing about playing Bar Billiards just yet, but want you to know that we are still keeping our options open and if the Pubs/Clubs reopen properly making it possible to play games/matches fairly soon, then we will contact players/captains/venues to try and find out which of the outstanding Competitions can be played, somewhere/somehow. Singles and Doubles seem more likely to succeed, however a full Masters and Finals Night schedule looks financially and logistically harder to envisage, but we will continue to try and find ways, even if unconventional.
