Hi Everyone
This year’s championships will be made up of a combination mens and ladies teams (7 a side), each county has the right to send one mens side and one ladies side. Each county should state what sides they wish to send to participate no later than the 31 August.
After the 31 August if less than 14 teams have entered the remaining slots will be invited to be filled in the following order.
- A ladies select side (captain appointed by AEBBA committee) made up of players from counties that have not submitted a ladies side. - B sides that are currently in Division 1 – (currently Sussex B) - B sides invited in order as to where their A side finished in last years championships.
So can the following counties submit what sides (mens, ladies or both) they will be sending to Totteridge on 12 September (Division 1) and 19 September (Division 2) (the sooner the better please).
Teams that are definitely in Division 1 are Sussex A, Surrey, Oxon, Northants, Bucks (and Sussex B if invited). The rest of the teams that played 2 years ago may be invited to play in Division 1 depending on numbers of teams Kent, Berks, Sussex Ladies, Oxon Ladies, Oxon B. There is a max of 14 slots to fill, but the balance of the divisions will be decided once all the entries are in.
Sussex – A team, B team, Ladies team poss, Kent - A team Berks – A team likely Oxon - A team B team poss Bucks - A team Northants - A team Surrey – A team
I am assuming no Hants, Cambs, Suffolk, Yorkshire, Jersey, Guernsey. If this is not the case let me know.

Could I ask that AEBBA consider an amalgamation of County's for next year at their AGM. Especially for those that now have so few players. Or a format thaf considers vey small leagues should they wish to enter combined.
I think consideration of the the small leagues needs discussion please.
Either that or you lose many players to these sort of games.
Thanks Chris

If you are suggesting a change to the format for the county championships for it to be considered it needs to be put forward as a rule change at the AGM. Maybe give an example of the type of team you are proposing?

Thanks Jean
Gives me time to think about those county's that may just die 're AEBBA.
Have you thought about how we could include them ? Although now thinking it is only us as Hampshire.

From what I've seen in the Nottingham chat, 7 players will be a struggle but we could manage 5, can't speak on anyone's behalf, but I'd suspect starting every game 2-0 down would make it not worthwhile for us.

So the first AEBBA tournament is completed (well half completed with division 2 next week) Well done to Sussex A for retaining their title. The B team pushed them very hard and although they managed a 7-7 draw with the A's it meant they were 6 points behind in the final standings | Team | P | W | D | L | Score | Player Ave | Pts |

1 | Sussex A | 4 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 354,950 | 6,338 | 40 | 2 | Sussex B | 4 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 315,400 | 5,632 | 34 | 3 | Northants | 4 | 2 | 0 | 2 | 199,780 | 3,568 | 24 | 4 | Bucks A | 4 | 2 | 0 | 2 | 230,170 | 4,110 | 23 | 5 | Oxon A | 4 | 0 | 0 | 4 | 186,000 | 3,321 | 19 |

3 players were unbeaten winning 8 out of 8. Kevin Tunstall and Nigel Senior for Sussex A, Dave Ingram for Sussex B who also made the days 2 highest breaks (highest of 14k). Kevin had the best average of 10,139. I will put the full details on the AEBBA website once division 2 is played. Thanks go to Matt and Chelle for helping out shouting (Matt) and writing (Chelle). Also big thanks to Matt Jones for organising the setup of the 8 tables which played well on the day. Looking forward to division 2 next weekend

Notts had a cracking day out. Despite only winning 7 legs out of the 56 played, we'd like to think it was a respectable first outing :)
Nice to get my first win(s) in a full AEBBA tournament too!
