It is with an extremely heavy heart that I have to report that Barry Timson passed away yesterday at St Catherine's Hospice.
Barry was a good friend and colleague and we had played together in teams in various leagues over a 40 year period. He was Crawley Singles Champion in 1985 and Mid Sussex in 1996. Both times he followed it up to make the Sussex Champion-of-Champions Final. Barry was also (along with Andy Finn) Sussex Mens Doubles Champion in 1982/83.
Funeral arrangements will be advised when known.

This is such sad news.
Barry was one of the nicest guys in Bar Billiards. He was kind and encouraging to me when I was a rookie and one of the first to congratulate me as I improved.
Trevor and I will always remember him with great fondness. We send our sympathy to his family.

Sad news again, another one of the good ones gone.
Barry was a true gent and was tough to beat but he always encouraged you as Ros said.
Condolences to all the Family and to his team mates who have been together for ages.
I know the team aren't in Mid Sussex this year and I will miss my trips to the Windmill.

Such sad news about Barry. I had heard from Clive that he really wasn't in the best of heath. What a lovely man ,played against him many times back in the day at the Windmill and Green dragon. A very tough player a true battle every time when you played him. Along with his old sparring partner Andy now. Condolences to all his family and RIP.
