Part two of legendary guitarists, and apologies for there being none included who are comparatively recent to the scene ! For example, the following are rated in the top twenty guitarists of all time : Stevie Ray Vaughan; Joe Satriani; John Petrucci; Randy Rhoads; Allan Holdsworth; Paul Gilbert; Yngwie Malmsteen; Phil Keaggy; Jason Becker and John McLaughlin - but I've never heard of 'em ! ;D ;D ;D So apart from this brief acknowledgment here, they're not included. 1pt for naming, extra point if you can name a band they were in. 22. 23. 24. 25. 26. 27. 28. 29. 30. 31. 32. 33. 34. 35. 36. 37. Now for the no-pics, clues-only questions: 38. A Grammy Award-winning guitarist, composer and record producer, early influenced by Frank Zappa, has been in band with David Lee Roth and Whitesnake. 39. American guitarist, best known as the lead guitarist for the Dixie Dregs and Deep Purple (he replaced Richie Blackmore). 40. Noted for both his slide guitar and improvisational skills. In 2003 Rolling Stone magazine named him as number two on their list of the greatest guitarists of all time, trailing only Jimi Hendrix. Had a major role on the album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, by Derek and the Dominos, a 1970-71 band led by Eric Clapton. His nickname, "Skydog," was given to him by soul singer Wilson Pickett to replace his earlier nickname, "Dog." 41. Best known for his work with Yes, was voted "Best Overall Guitarist" in Guitar Player magazine five years in a row (1977 - 1981) and was inducted into Guitar Player's "Gallery of Greats" in 1981. Bonus question (42). This guy's a brilliant young talent, who joined an 'old' prog rock band when they re-formed about five years ago. You've got yourself 5 points, Craig: two for Dave Gilmour of Floyd, but Townshend not correct, he was on Quiz I if you remember. I've seen both The Who and Jimi Hendrix live, btw, in 1968 at the Crawley Starlight ballroom. Both Pete and Jimi smashed up their guitars, Pete on the low ceiling and Jimi on the front of the stage after he had played it with his teeth. Keith Moon toppled his drumkit and did quite a bit of damage as well. It was not scary at all and the audiences were cheering.
Well done on finding Doug Boyle, 3pts for that as promised. Easiest way to find anything to do with Caravan is to Google for "Canterbury Bands" and you come up with a website called Calyx. I also follow the progress of the guys who left the band, Dave and Richard Sinclair, using that site.

22. Andy Powell from the legendary Wishbone Ash. With his famous Gibson Flying V. Andy being the only original member of the band now. Also playing with Bob Skeat - Bass guitar. Ray Weston - Drums. And newest member Muddy Manninen also guitar.

[WHAAT? Never heard of Stevie Ray? Well, I have now, 'cos I made a point of asking the Ferret (guy at work who I go to the occasional rock concert with) if he had any of his stuff, and he lent me a CD. Very nice, technically very good, but didn't really knock me sideways. But I've always loved guitar solos, the twiddlier the better. Give me Jimmy Page or Dave Edmunds or Mark Knopfler - there's a broad selection for you. For something bluesey - Joe Walsh on Life's Been Good. We don't all see things the same - I was lent a CD of the best of the Grateful Dead and it left me cold. And I hate Springsteen and Captain Beefheart. >:( Diff'rent Strokes for Different Folks.
