I have been looking at the requirements for covid testing on arrival into Jersey.
My understanding is that fully vaccinated passengers must take a free PCR test on arrival at Jersey airport, or alternatively may opt to pay for a PCR test in the UK within 72 hours before arriving and then no tests would be required in Jersey. There is no isolation required while waiting for the result and the PCR test result should be received within 12 hours or so. Assuming it's negative then all good.
If however someone were to test positive on arrival in Jersey, is anyone able to confirm how the Merton Hotel would deal with this? The person would already be checked into the hotel and then would be required to isolate for 10 days, however I believe the hotel is closing after the bar billiards weekend? Hopefully this will not happen to anyone but I'm wondering if any of the organisers in Jersey have an idea of what would happen in this situation?
Thanks in advance, Joe

Afternoon Joe,
Good question, although we hope that no one would be in the that position (fingers crossed). I shall fire the question off to the hotel and see what their response is.

Evening all,
I have received the following feedback from the Merton.
If a guest tested positive on arrival and their quarantine exceeded the hotel opening time then they would either offer accommodation at the Pomme d’Or Hotel on a Bed & Breakfast rate of £90 a night, or alternatively the guest would be free to source their own accommodation on the island. They also currently have availability in their suites but this is very limited and could be full by the tournament.
I trust this feedback is of assistance.

Thank you for finding that out Sean. Of course hopefully that will not be necessary for anyone, but it is good to know what to expect and people can make their own decisions. Very much looking forward to the weekend.
Cheers, Joe

Hi Sean, Just a further follow up question to Joe's. If, in the worse case, someone tests positive on arrival and has to isolate. How will that affect the other people in their group that travelled with them? Or even if you were travelling on the same plane? For example there is 7 in our group travelling together, would we all have to isolate if one tests positive?

A lot of info plus travel form, including direct contacts being tested but not isolated if symptom free on this link

www.itv.com/news/channel/2021-10-04/plans-to-relax-pcr-testing-at-jerseys-bordersThe situation has changed in Guernsey and Jersey is expected to follow suit shortly for consistency. When we flew back from Manchester on Aurigny Sunday, people still wearing masks in the Airport and on the plane. Until they came around serving beer and spirits, and people were taking them on and off during the flight ! Currently we still each must buy a pack of 5 LF tests at £25 to take every other day, and do this Travel Tracker form on our mobiles.

For those of us going to Jersey:-
From Tuesday 2 November, passengers who meet any of the three COVID Status Certification criteria will not need to take a PCR test or isolate: those who are fully vaccinated (2 doses of an MHRA approved vaccine + 2 weeks) those who can demonstrate recently recovered status from a COVID-19 infection within the last 90 days those who have submitted a pre-departure PCR test. Passengers who do not meet the COVID Status Criteria will still be required to take a PCR test on arrival and isolate until a negative test result is received. All passengers aged 11 and over will be required to complete a pre-departure travel form.

This is good news dawn. When I visited my daughter in August I needed to complete the form and was per tested on arrival. When I spoke to Jenny last weekend she said that the states may be changing things in November. So .. we need to fill out the form and if we are Double jabbed we won’t need the pcr test. Best to print out the form, although you can also have it on your phone. They scanned a code on the form when I arrived in August.
