It is with a very heavy heart I have to let everyone know I have been informed that Charlie passed away yesterday.
Charlie was a lovely man, a true gentleman and I had the pleasure and honour to play along side him. Charlie was a very good player who was never too busy to give advice and coaching. A true stalwart of the game who will be missed by many. RIP Charlie and enjoy being reunited with your beloved Gina. TJ and Liz xx

Sad news Tony, as you say Charlie was a very lovely man.
Charlie always used to play in the Brighton off the spot. In 2000, I was hoping to make my first off the spot final and then Charlie only went and beat me in the semis.....but he was so nice about it so I couldn't hold it against him! He was always a gent on and off the table.

Sad news indeed, I had the pleasure of being a team mate of Charlie (and Gina) for several seasons, a very good player and a lovely man who always had time to listen and talk to you. RIP Charlie, you will be missed but not forgotten. David

Sad news. A lovely man and true gentleman. I have lots of memories of Charlie. Jersey adventures with Charlie and Gina many years ago always come to mind and still make me smile and laugh.
Together again with Gina.
RIP Charlie

I am sorry to hear the news about Charlie. A gentleman and very good player.
I always remember when Charlie and the Bridge team playing at the Carlton Centre tried the 24 hour record. I went along with Keith Lynn to support and score a few games.
Obviously, I fell asleep during the night, then started snoring while Charlie was on a big break and of course Charlie lost concentration and came off.
RIP Charlie.

Spent many a happy time in his company Down in Brighton. More than once Charlie played host finding a roof for me back In the day and as jean said had some lovely memories of trips To Jersey. Ccondolences to all close to him and rip Chas.

Sad,sad news indeed. I’ve known Charlie for half a century and he was as everybody has described - a lovely gentle man with a dry sense of humour who could play more than a bit

For me this is such sad news, even though we knew in Jersey that he wasn't a well man. So many good times and so many fond memories from such a long time ago. In my formative BB years at the Bridge in Shoreham in the mid to late seventies Charlie was one of the stand out guys who got me and others playing. As all have alluded to, an absolute gent, win or lose. Such a nice guy to chat with about life experiences or anything and nothing. Never a bad word from anybody about Charlie. Just great memories of a great guy whether playing or being with him, in the Worthing and Brighton leagues or in Jersey. Will miss you so much Charlie. RIP now with Gina who as we know was the love of your life. A truly great couple. Condolences to all close to Charlie.
