Interesting topic ........
Table sales are in a state of flux at the moment.
Ten or more years ago I studied these avidly and noticed certain trends developing. At the end of a 3 year analysis I was able to state a general changing-hands value of £600 for Jelkes, £500 for SAMS and £400 for Rileys - of average condition. For a genuine original untampered Jelkes or SAMS the price could reach £1000. Rileys can look nice when refurbished but tend to get shunned by players as none to our knowledge are used by Leagues.
There were many "mongrels" of which Sav and I took great pleasure in pinpointing their shortcomings .... one even had the legs glued on upside down ! Other features we were running under the microscope were slate condition, timers, pockets, and of course thread damage on legs through mishandling.
Then of course there were modern 'Supremes', advertised for £500 all too soon after having been purchased new for £1200.
In recent years the trend has been for asking prices to inflate, thanks largely to speculators: refurbishment firms popping up, buying cheap, a quick cosmetic tart-up and then asking anything up to £2k for re-sale on eBay........ Caveat emptor !
As time goes on, geniune kit is bound to become rarer to find, and some of the best of these will already have been snapped up by private operators such as yourself, offering them to pubs for rental/profit share in the absence of the Table Operators which have ceased to provide the service.
So yes, values appear to have increased recently, and maybe have even doubled since ten years ago. But nobody in their right mind would pay more than £2000 for a table - no matter how impressive !
