Moulsecoomb Social Club 3 -2 Master Mariner B Dave 2290 - 3790 Reg Martin 1860 - 400 Stuart Vic 1120 - 2130 Peter Colin 4640 - 350 Lorraine Phil 1670 - 1290 Buckle Interesting match with Dave starting off brightly and then throwing the first break of over 700 down the pan by potting the ball straight into the 30 hole, then did it again later on. Reg didn't really give him a chance once he'd settled down. Stuart missed the break and Martin started building. Although Stuart had his chances, it never really fell his way. This was the game I thought would be close but Pete knocked in a grand break and Vic was playing a catch up game which didn't materialise. Unlucky Vic. This one wasn't really in doubt with Colin having the break and Lorraine determined to break our white peg (often). Not sure who was playing for time here. Buckle getting stick from his own team all the way through. Phil didn't make it easy by doing the dreaded 4 down from the break on just under the grand but Buckle not playing his best. I will admit Buckle did say we would be impressed with his last ball with 2 either side of the 20 hole and potting all three. Not sure that was what he meant. Great evening with laughter all round. Thanks to all the Mariner B team.

My apologies for the outbreak of morale amongst our team Phil. A good evening once Stuart and me found the place. Well, he is a bus driver.

New Oak B 2 Stag C 3
Stuart C 9470 Stuart M 3760 Stu C 8k+ opening break then some interesting top of the table play from both players. Stu M eventually getting break back near the end
Jean 5650 Dave 8630 Jean off early on 2k+ Dave got break back and touched on 8k+ Jean then played rest of time out
Ash 2100 Bobhall 8360 Bit of a scrappy game this one with Ash off early then everyone lost count how many times Bob had the break. Jim happy he had beaten he’s 5 times on Sunday
Alan 10330 Grant 4250 Alan off on 2k but apparently left the balls awkward (not sure awkward was the exact words used). Alan then got break back and touched on 8k +
Chelle 630 Jim 3100 Chelle lost opening break of 2k then lots of play at top of table until Chelle got break back and going well until a 50-30 shot, the 30 whipped then whipped the twenty and came back on to the peg when on 3k giving Jim the break (in Jim’s words the only way he was going to it back). Jim then played out the rest of the time. Chelle was by far the better player and was so unlucky (again Jim’s words)
Good evening with the Stag with lots of friendly banter and a lovely chilli cheese dips and Doritos to finish.

Blue Anchor 3-2 Duke of Wellington **Tony Jenner 3890 - 6050 Mick Winder - TJ off early, Mick built a small lead but off. TJ got them back and going well, putting himself back in front. However Mick cleared them and then made a fine break for the win Matthew Knight 0 - 10,790 Kevin Tunstall** - excellent 10k and touch from Kevin, one iffy split early on but good recovery and no further problems Joe Oakley 6600 - 4730 Chris Tupper** - Tupps going well and looking solid before coming off, had a second chance which he couldn't take, giving Joe an opportunity which he took with an excellent clearance and break. Probably should mention an outrageous shot when a typical thumped shot with side and everything else flew round the table and would have ended up in the English Channel but fortunately the 50 pocket got in the way **James Whittle 9180 - 1980 Colin Smith - brilliant opener from James of very close to 7k gave Smithy no chance, he is now on the ever lengthening list of those who have been "Whittled" Rick Cunningham 4250 - 0 Dave Reeves** - the DR looked in good form, he left a couple of splits short but made some excellent recovery shots in getting to 5k. Leaving a split to the right he tried to roll up but slightly over hit it and the cue ball trickled on to the right hand peg to give Rick the break back. No messing about after his first break shot he made an excellent break to give us a cracking win Great result for the hosts and a top quality performance to come from 2-0 down to end the 100% record of our sporting opponents. Very good night with a real change in the volume depending on the state of the match. I think Mr Happy and Mr Grumpy were on show, and it was good to see Terry on fine form

Caxton Arms 1 - 4 New Oak A Brian Muggeridge 3,830* - 4,760 Ian Lelliott George Fisher 6,830* - 2,680 Nigel Senior Kim Hurley 2,040* - 4,250 Marc Chipman Steve Hurley 3,250* - 4,030 Bob Osborne Brian Muggeridge (4P) 1,600 - 11,480* Phil Osborne Captain the only loser as the New Oak A win 4-1 In leg 1, Brian and Ian did battle, fresh off the train. Brian opened up with only a few hundred, but got the balls back to lead by 3k. Ian only made a few when he got the balls back, but got them back a 2nd time and made 3k to nick the leg. Leg 2, George sporting a cap and a beard, went off with 1,200, but got the balls back and made a good 5k break. I had a chance but a whipped 20 split to end my challenge. Well played George, match levelled at 1-1 Leg 3 Chippers put on in game 3 if only to stop him going on about trying to recruit my players for the one day interleague. According to Chippers he, the B team captain, can pick who he likes regardless of who the A team captain (me) wants to pick His opponent was Kim who in missed the break in her eyes she hit it too thick although my eyes told me she hit it too thin....Chippers built a lead of 2k, I was worried when Kim got to 700 behind then Chippers got worried when Kim got to 200 behind. Then we were all worried when he got the balls back....but he banged in 2k to seal the win (and his first of the season!) Leg 4 Steve and Bob had a nip and tuck game. Steve led through most of the leg, but Bob came back with a 2k break to win it at the end and therefore sealing the match win for the away side. Leg 5 Brian out for the 5th game using the 4 player rule. He was off early, and Phil was by far the best player on the night made a couple of good breaks for his 11k, warming up for his singles game at the Caxton v Silent next week . Good night with the Caxton players, with a nice lasagane provided by the pub.

Yes, I think I misspelt, or (like Boris J millions of times) misspoke Duke of Wellington - thought, being a good mate, Phil would prefer to play there but no, already arranged for Dad Bob to drive so he can down the 3 winning pints after he has thrashed me. Have never known Bob to drive him, am now very very worried he is taking it seriously!
