We managed to fit in 3 matches tonight (mixed doubles result on appropriate page) Thanks to all our opponents for being so patient and understanding regarding the times In the Mens Singles played last in the evening, Barry Holt beat Nigel Senior 2-0, quite a few opportunities in a scrappy first leg with the one up causing difficulties, in the second Nigel was going well but left another one short on 7k. Barry played very well to get near 10k and seal the win Earlier in the Open Doubles quite honestly so much happened its difficult to remember it all. Martin decided to go first having won the toss, he got to about 5k without looking that comfortable and then came off. Nigel got them straight back and was off pretty quickly, then Geoff played pretty well getting about 5k but I did get a go at the break and one up so it was all looking good for my break in leg 2.....err maybe not....I was off without even getting one split Lucky for us Geoff was very unfortunate not to get them back and Nigel made a pretty good 8k to seal the leg, he needed them all as Martin made a rapid 6k. In the decider I was not expecting a go but....(before 6 mins was up) this happened. Geoff started well but then got a shocking kick and was off, Nigel got them back (right hand white was starting to come inside) and he was off on 1k, Martin got them straight back and whipped the white out on the break and was off straight away!! So (you know what is coming) it was left to pretty much the worst player on the night (I was worse than awful and woeful in the mixed doubles earlier) to get the 6k required for victory, it was not at all pretty for the first 3k but managed to keep going and get the defending champs into the semi-finals (sorry Tupps I said there would be no report but your scoring deserved it). Tupps was awesome in scoring the 3 legs, thanks to him for coming with us, supporting and scoring - he was not happy because he was still sober when we dropped him off
