Jolly Brickmakers 0 - 5 Nomads
Mike* 2730 - 3300 Michael John* 1490 - 3660 Jim Taz 1040 - 2110 *John P Iain* 60 - 1430 Abbey Pete* 2630 - 5610 Jim (Player 5)
A good evening at the Jolly Bricks resulted in a much needed win for the Nomads in their quest to stay in Division 1.
Game 1 consisted of the captains clash and Mike started well pulling out a lead over Michael. However Michael started to work out the table halfway through and managed to build up enough of a lead to survive Mike's late fightback.
Next up John and Jim. Jim made the bold claim that he'd only ever lost one game at the Jolly bricks and that confidence shone through, although a quick splash and dash was required half way through!
Taz and JP then took to the baise in a game that could have gone either way - especially after JP managed to comically miscue of the break shot, giving away the grand he'd built up. A second flurry from JP was enough to get over the line though.
On fourth was Ian and Abbey. This game was one in which Iain seemed destined to lose, twice hitting the black peg directly and then managing - after a stirling comeback to edge ahead with the bar down - to leave the object ball directly behind the 200 hole. Having missed this shot off the cushion Abbey enjoyed the resulting G&T.
Finally Jim returned to the baise for the Nomads against Pete and romped away with the highest score of the night to seal a second whitewash of the season for the Nomads and a fifth win out of six in 2022 as the end of the season rolls into view.

SPCCA 4 MVC A 1
John 10710 Colin 1390 Laurie 3020 Jeff 4460 Junkie 6050 Neil 3030 Dave 8310 Benny 2390 Tracy 3040 Grahame 1670
First up me and Colin. My break and off on 1500 not the best of starts.A few goes each and I managed to Get the balls back and make 4k. Not much luck for Colin and I cleared them again and played it out.
Laurie and Jeff on next. Jeff leaving one up short gave Loz a chance. Not much luck and suffering with a bad Foot Laurie was really struggling. Jeff next to get the balls back got his head down and made a steady 3k break. With time running out Laurie cleared the balls and made a late consolation break.
Game 3 Junkie and neil. Neil off early and Junkie grafted out a couple of grand . Plenty of goes and pegs including 2 black ones by Neil in succession ( takes some doing). Junks playing well made some more before Jeff eventually got going all to late.
DC and Benny up fourth and Benny off straight away. A few good shots and dave cleared the balls and made 6k and touch. Benny next to get the balls back made a couple before DC made sure with one last break.
Last but not least Tracy and Grahame a right scrappy game loads of goes and pegs with neither player getting going. Eventually Tracy making a late break to take the leg.
A nice evening with the mvc lads and a good win for us after a couple of recent setbacks. Just hope Laurie recovers from what seems like an attack of Gout (ouch). As if his season could get any more painful.

Old Oak 3, Salfords A 2 Martin 5810, *Vince 720 Nick BP, *Trevor 3780 Clive 4520, *Zoe 4460 *Charlie 900, Sheila 3450 Paul 3270, *Teri 1490
Game 1 Solid performance from our skip, very little going for Vince. Game 2 Trevor allowed himself the luxury of losing a 2800 starter, Nick never got going and allowed himself the luxury of two BPs.
Game 3 What a cracker of a player young Zoe is turning out to be: another Denise in the making! Opened with a faultless 4k, left them awkward and then the table got clogged up. With 4 minutes to go I finally got 'em back and was within 200 with five whites in the tray. 100, 50, 150 would have been the shots to play, but - not trusting the split on the Oak - I opted instead for 100, 100 and a last ball game. I missed the first attempt and was rooting for Zoe but hers pulled up short too and I got it next time.
Game 4 Good game from Sheila, had Charlie under the cosh from the start. Game 5 Mr Reliable coming through against an in-form Teri.
